What makes a story worth reading?
If anyone answered this question accurately and perfectly, then there would exist no such things as writer's block or anxiety over how it's received.
As an idler who idled his life away by doing idle stuff, I am not very good at answering such a deep question that only the great gods of online serialization are able to answer.
I, however, know exactly what it takes to become a good reader: a lot of leisure on my hands, and zero commitments. Obviously, I would prefer not to be such a loyal reader that other commenters were remarking upon my frequent (if not incessant) presence in every popular novel.
One such story is "Carcass of the Evil and Fetus of the Virtuous."
It was a shitty story with no real plot. The MMC went around killing villains with "tragic pasts" and realized the true meaning of power as the all-time favorite "Chosen One/Kind One/Mighty One".
I still couldn't stop reading it. It was one of those stories you click on randomly because of a lot of hype and discover that it really wasn't all that ... and you still keep reading.
"Click." Sent.
I flopped back onto the bed stretching my now numb legs. My neck was hurting like hell, and I hadn't slept for two days. Being a web novel reader was no joke. I just dedicated two weeks of my life to the most generic web novel to ever grace this reading platform. I liked my life. There was nothing wrong with the life I led now.
It's just that, after seeing incredible people on a virtual screen, you start to wonder if those stories are true.
If they are, am I living out someone's story too?
