Ilyra found Kael again at the boundary.
"I won't replace you," she said.
Kael absorbed the words quietly.
"I won't become a guardian who erases herself from the world," she continued. "But I won't help them rebuild gods either."
"Then what will you do?" Kael asked.
She smiled faintly. "I'll teach people to live without them."
