Chapter Five: Blackstone City
At sunrise, Mo Tian reached the edge of the forest.
The dense trees gradually gave way to plains covered in dark stones, each stone seemingly carrying the weight of ancient times.
Before him stood Blackstone City.
Its walls towered high, built from dark rocks, some engraved with warnings for outsiders.
The city was bustling with activity: merchants, hunters, and guards constantly monitoring every corner.
Mo Tian muttered:
"This is where my new world begins… and the true test."
He stepped cautiously into the city.
No longer were there prisons or elders to protect him.
Every wrong step could be his last.
Suddenly, he noticed unusual movement in the marketplace.
A group of mercenaries, armed with swords and spears, were chasing someone.
His eyes sharpened, analyzing the situation quickly.
[Analysis]
[Number of targets: 4]
[Danger level: Moderate to High]
Some decisions had to be the best chance for survival.
Mo Tian decided to approach carefully.
As he got closer, a crate fell near the mercenaries, making a loud noise that caught their attention.
They looked around, then froze when they saw Mo Tian.
One of them spoke sharply:
"Who are you?!"
"We haven't seen you in this city before!"
Mo Tian smiled faintly:
"Strange… I'm just a passerby."
One of them stepped forward, sword raised:
"No one passes here unless they are ready to die."
Mo Tian didn't move, only lifted an eyebrow slightly.
Then he whispered:
"You won't need to see my strength… not anymore."
[Suggestion]
[Distort the Law of Fear.]
[Effect: Enemies hesitate.]
The mercenaries suddenly felt doubt.
Their swords wavered, and they began stepping back.
Mo Tian seized the opportunity, approaching them calmly.
He didn't attack yet—just a single look made one of them's heart skip a beat.
But one mercenary did not hesitate and lunged with his sword.
Mo Tian sidestepped lightly, using a small stone from the ground to distract his opponent.
The mercenary's sword fell from his hand, leaving him in complete confusion.
The others retreated, then decided to flee.
Mo Tian sat briefly under the shadow of one of the stone pillars.
He smiled to himself:
"First step… simple, yet decisive."
Then he rose, ready to advance toward the heart of the city.
There lay opportunities, dangers, and true enemies.
And on the rooftops, other eyes were watching, something stronger and smarter than any beast in the forest.
Mo Tian smiled.
"It seems the journey has truly begun now…"
