"Renee, my mom's bark is worse than her bite. She doesn't actually have a bad heart, so please don't take it personally. She's getting older, so just try to humor her a little. As the younger generation, we need to show our elders respect."
Sophia Zobel smiled and nodded, very pleased with how Nathaniel Lynch had put it.
Renee Jennings was overcome with indignation, a vicious glint flashing in her reddened eyes. "It's clearly your mom's fault, so why do I have to be the one to accommodate her? Nathaniel Lynch, how could you do this to me? You promised you'd always be good to me!"

Sophia Zobel snorted. "I only said a few words to you. Who are you putting on this crying show for? I see right through your little games! I think you went on some trashy variety show and got a big head, and now you have no respect for me at all."
