Nathaniel Lynch was aghast.
He had been coveting this watch for a long time. Never mind the exorbitant price; despite asking numerous friends, he hadn't even managed to get on the list to purchase it. This was a watch that money alone couldn't buy.
"This..." Nathaniel Lynch asked, "Whose watch is this?"
A deep voice sounded from beside him, its tone flat and unreadable. "Mr. Lynch seems very interested in my watch."
Nathaniel Lynch looked to the side, tilting his head up slightly. He wasn't short—standing at five-foot-ten—but he still had to look up a little to see the man next to him.
"You... This is your watch?"
He recognized the man as the husband of another guest, Naomi Kenway.
Nathaniel Lynch glanced back at it. He didn't dare reach out and touch it—that would be rude. After examining it several times, he was absolutely certain it was no counterfeit or knockoff.
