Old Mrs. Xu shared some of the candies and pastries the Shen Family brought today with a few of her old friends. She visited each of their homes for a while, and by the time she returned, it was almost dark.
"Your grandpa isn't back yet?"
"No." Xu Changqing set down the ladle she had been using to stir the rice porridge and covered half the pot with the lid. "He said he was too happy today and wanted to keep chatting with my second grand-uncle."
'Still chatting? Wasn't the whole day enough?' That old man... he must be overjoyed today. 'Good thing he didn't drink too much...' Old Mrs. Xu nodded. "Porridge for dinner?"
"There are steamed buns too. Grandpa and Dad were drinking at noon."
'It's like she doesn't even know how to talk.' Just that one sentence... anyone else might not have understood her. Old Mrs. Xu gave her granddaughter a speechless look, then turned and went into the west room.
