In Upper Waifang Village of Xiangyang Team, the entire village had been bustling with excitement since early this morning. From one end of the village to the other, and all the way to the main road's intersection, strips of red cloth were hung everywhere.
On the main path from Shen Weimin's courtyard to the Shen Family Ancestral Hall, which had been cleared of snow, stood rows of square tables and long benches.
In the open space in the middle of Shen Weimin's front yard, the dowry that had been brought over from the Xu family the previous afternoon was on full display. It was a cartload of items, each adorned with large, red "double happiness" paper-cuts.
On top of a large red wardrobe were four quilts. Two were green satin embroidered with a large red "double happiness" symbol, and the other two were red, embroidered with a dragon and a phoenix.
