Jing Qi and Jing Lin were brothers. Now that he didn't have to jump into the river to feed the Water Monster Lord, Jing Qi saw no reason to hide the truth. He told his younger brother who he believed Sweet Ring really was.
The two young brothers simply stared, frozen in place. Before them stood a chubby, fair-skinned child, far prettier than any flying fox.
Sweet Ring buried her head and finished a bowl of seafood congee. When she looked up, her mouth was smeared with porridge, and an arc of it was printed on her forehead from the rim of the bowl. Even her red, vertical pupils were filled with satisfied contentment. How could this adorable, child-like girl possibly be the dreaded Water Monster Lord?
"Water Monster Lord?" Jing Qi called out softly.
"I told you, my name is Ji Nuan, and my nickname is Sweet Ring," Sweet Ring said with a smile, holding the wooden bowl out to Jing Qi. "More!"
