'If I had known a little more about what women go through during pregnancy,' Victor Morgan thought, 'I probably wouldn't have waited for Jessie to agree to having a child. I would have decided against it myself.'
Jessie Sterling huffed. "Really?"
"Yes. I'm sorry," Victor Morgan suddenly apologized to Jessie.
Jessie had been about to laugh and tease him, but she hadn't expected Victor to be serious.
She stared at Victor's face. His expression was solemn; the regret he felt about their decision to have a child was practically written all over it.
Jessie stroked her belly. She wasn't the type to play the part of a virtuous wife and doting mother, who would feel like all her suffering was erased just by seeing her husband's guilt.
