Jean Grant held her phone, turning things over in her mind. Finally, she sent him a text message.
Sure enough, half an hour after she sent the text, he returned.
Closing the door, Nicholas Ainsworth took off his overcoat and stood by the bed. "What did you say in your text?"
Jean Grant looked at him seriously. "I've thought it over. The main reason I married you was because I wanted to be happy. You haven't brought me happiness, so I'm letting go. From now on, you can fool around with whoever you want. The only condition is that we go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get a divorce."
He raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face, sending Jean Grant staggering onto the bed.
Her ears were ringing. She sat up, clutching her face, and looked at him. "Nicholas Ainsworth, a man like you claims he can make me happy? You asked me to steal secrets from my brother's company. I guess you didn't expect my own brother to be wary of me, too."
