"Good. You'd better not. Or I'll strangle you."
Jean Grant flinched. She could tell her mother wasn't just making an empty threat.
"I won't. I promise, okay?"
Hearing this, Mrs. Grant finally nodded. "I gave birth to you. I'd like to think you're not that stupid."
Jean Grant felt a little uncomfortable. "Okay, Mom, I'm heading back now. I'll come see Grandma again tomorrow."
Mrs. Grant waved her hand dismissively. "Go on."
Jean Grant immediately left the Grant Residence and got into her car, her emotions a complicated, unspoken mess.
「Back at the Ainsworth estate.」
Mr. Ainsworth was in the living room watching a soccer match. When he saw her return, he asked, "How's your grandmother?"
"It's hard to say. My mom said they'll see how she does at home for a few days, and if she doesn't get better, they'll move her to a hospital. It's an old ailment."
Mr. Ainsworth nodded, then said, "Jean, come sit down."
Jean Grant sat down across from him without a word.
