Before Clara Grant could even bend down, a sharp, mean-spirited voice sounded from behind her.
"Well, well. Knocking someone over and not even helping them up or saying you're sorry. You must be so high and mighty."
Just as Clara was about to turn around, a figure flashed before her. Someone had appeared in front of her and was bending down to help Juno Croft up, asking with concern, "Juno, are you okay?"
Clara looked up to see Chloe Grant, the very picture of a caring classmate, comforting Juno, who looked like she was about to burst into tears.
Class had just let out, so the other students hadn't been paying much attention. But now, all eyes were on them. No one came closer; they just watched quietly from a distance.
Clara frowned. 'Juno is taller and more solidly built than most girls. It was just a light bump, and it's not like I'm a brick wall. How could it have hurt so much that she's about to cry?'
