While Faye Jennings was talking to the other girl, Clara Grant had already taken a careful look at the suitcase in her hands, discovering it wasn't hers either.
She was lost in thought when she suddenly heard Faye Jennings telling her to open the suitcase and check its contents, causing her to hesitate.
The suitcase wasn't hers. Under normal circumstances, she would have frankly denied it without a second thought.
But right now, she was desperate to escape the predicament of being misunderstood. A suitcase had appeared out of nowhere just when she needed one. Even though it wasn't hers, it could help her get out of this jam.
Faye Jennings was telling her to open it and check, supposedly worried that her things might be missing—all for her own good. But the suitcase wasn't hers, so she really didn't have the nerve to open it.
However, not opening it would be a slight to Faye, a rejection of her kind intentions.
