"Mom!" Chloe Grant cried out in protest.
Jean Jarvis glanced at Adam Warren, who, despite having just been slapped, was still staring fixedly at Chloe Grant. She pushed Chloe toward the door. "I said, go outside and wait for me! I'll explain everything. If you don't listen, I'm going to get angry!"
Chloe Grant bit her lip, shot Adam Warren another vicious glare, and then turned and walked out.
Jean Jarvis watched her daughter leave and breathed a sigh of relief. She looked over at Adam Warren and saw him craning his neck, his eyes still glued to Chloe's retreating back.
A fire of rage ignited within her. "Adam Warren, let me tell you something. Don't you even think about getting any ideas about my daughter. If you do, I swear I'll fight you to the death, even if it costs me everything!"
