A morbid smile curved Joanna Jacobs's lips, which she pulled up stiffly.
Troy King finally lost his patience. "Miss Jacobs, stop wasting my time. Are you coming with me or staying here?"
Joanna Jacobs froze, her eyes sweeping over the Vaughn family, who looked at her with utter loathing, and then to Aurora Sterling, who stood a short distance away, her expression ever-calm.
The woman lowered her hand. The sickly smile on her face gradually faded, replaced by a cold aloofness that restored her usual air of looking down on everyone. "I'll go with you."
Troy King smiled in satisfaction. "Excellent. Smart choice."
The Vaughn family and Sean Carter watched as Joanna Jacobs, her expression grim, walked toward Troy King in her high heels without a moment's hesitation.
Yvonne Vaughn finally broke down. "Joanna... Damien's illness... His illness... Please, save him..."
