Raylo, riding Baofeng, grew closer and closer. What was once a blurry speck of light rapidly magnified into a majestic Griffin exuding a terrifying aura.
The dozen or so Personal Guard Knights still with Karachi exchanged a look, each seeing the grim resolve in the other's eyes.
"For the Kingdom! For His Highness Prince!"
One Knight roared, yanking hard on his reins. He wheeled his Pegasus around and charged toward Raylo and Baofeng.
"Stop him!"
The other Knights quickly followed his lead, forming a fragile barrier. They intended to use their own bodies to buy the Prince even a few seconds of escape time.
Raylo watched these loyal Knights, who were charging to their deaths without fear, but felt not the slightest ripple of emotion.
On the battlefield, everyone serves their own master. There is only life and death.
"Baofeng."
He simply uttered a single word.
The Storm Griffin King didn't even use its claws or beak. It just gave a mighty downward flap of its wings!
