Wang Hai closed the door and turned to look at Meng Ye, only to see her standing there in a daze.
As Wang Hai walked over and reached out to touch her...
"Don't touch me!"
Wang Hai's hand froze in mid-air.
Meng Ye took two steps back and repeated, "Don't touch me."
She then turned, went into the bedroom, and locked the door from the inside.
Standing outside, Wang Hai listened to the sound of the lock and closed his eyes.
He sat down on the sofa, completely drained.
The standoff lasted until the afternoon, when Meng Ye emerged from the room, changed, and saw that Wang Hai was still home.
She asked, "I'm going out to buy groceries. Do you want to come?"
Wang Hai's face lit up. "Yes! Wait a second, I'll go change."
The two of them left together and went to the nearest market.
They bought a chicken, a fish, some beef, celery, bok choy, and a good amount of fruit.
