"She's not my mother-in-law!" Vivian Lee said through gritted teeth, her brow furrowed. She snatched the glass of water from the table and began to chug it.
Seeing her frantically gulping down water, Ashley Bowen quickly grabbed her wrist. "Don't drink so much. You'll fill up and won't be able to eat."
The words were barely out of her mouth when Vivian Lee set down her glass, stood up, and grabbed her purse. "I'm skipping lunch. I've lost my appetite."
"Vivian!" Ashley Bowen hurried after her, trying to reason with her. "I know you don't want to run into Keith, and you definitely don't want another unpleasant encounter with Mrs. Flores. But you two will have to face each other eventually. You can't avoid it forever."
Ashley's words were true, but they cut Vivian Lee to the core.
