"It's not up to you or me to decide if this is just an act. It's up to this!" Ryan Osborne's finger poked Jenna Irving over her heart.
Jenna Irving scoffed. "Ryan Osborne, you're way too confident!"
Even as she said it, her heart skipped a beat—the telltale sign of a guilty conscience. 'But why should I feel guilty?'
She didn't dare face her true feelings and instead fled the apartment.
Ryan Osborne caught up to her and grabbed her hand. "Take my arm."
"No."
"Woman, you really are disobedient. Do you want me to resort to more extreme measures?"
Jenna Irving ignored him and pressed the button for the elevator. 'It's broad daylight. It's not like he'd try to force a kiss on me or something. He wouldn't dare.'
But she had completely underestimated both his nerve and his shamelessness.
The moment the elevator doors opened, she was swept off her feet into his arms. She yelped in surprise, simultaneously noticing the astonished looks from the other residents inside.
