Ethan Kingsley stared into her shocked eyes. "The election is getting closer," he added. "For now, just rest here. Don't worry about anything else."
"Alright." A smile finally broke across Corinne Linden's face.
Ethan Kingsley stood up abruptly, about to leave.
Corinne Linden called out to him, "Ethan!"
Ethan Kingsley paused and looked back, waiting for her to continue.
Her tone was almost pleading. "Is there even a small chance... that I could still find a place in your heart?"
Ethan Kingsley didn't answer. His dark eyes gazed at her face, his attention gradually drawn to her captivating eyes. Finally, he nodded.
Corinne Linden fought the urge to laugh out loud, afraid he would find it distasteful. She held it in, watching him go.
