Chapter 20 - Chapter 020: Retrial

Dezso awoke, alive and back hours prior before the race had transpired, now on the train which he had departed British Tracen from. As his eyes gazed around, clutching onto the bag he bore with a tightening grip. The meeting of which had just occurred between himself and Kincsem had been more intense, yet had left him breathless.

Only one goal remained now in his mind. Yet that goal was to surpass even the true version of Kincsem. To never lose ever again when it came to racing. Utter perfection was his sole wish. It didn't matter what he was to risk, but if he was to be forced to trudge into enemy territory, he will make sure to dominate from now onwards.

Even if he had no mouth, he would scream. If he had no legs, he'd crawl to the finishing line. No matter what.

As he glanced back outside the window. The serene world now fading into mere colours and shades as the train coursed through the countryside. She instinctively understood that the events that led to her demise, were not to recur. She'd not meet Eclipse. Not again. Not for a long time.

He hadn't learnt much of the reasoning behind the world enlisting others to eliminate Kincsem..not yet at least. Nor did he understand why the three goddesses had turned a blind eye against this action, as they were not supposed to be the ones that protected, and created the existence of those known as 'Uma Musume'?

However, it was not up to the goddesses to keep the sanctity of Dezso and Kincsem. All the pressure rested upon him. For he was to become the one that would win, no… he would need to win, if that meant he would stay present in these endless plains. As he would take up arms and fight till this figure made of flesh would tear itself apart.

Hours had passed since this meagre declaration of Kincsems' vow, a proclamation that was to become the supreme in this generation, fraught with monsters, talents that were incomparable to that of previous generations. However, it was not just those from the early 2000s and fleeting legends that she'd have to fight against. It would be races that never truly occurred in the real world.

These races would be filled with anomalies. Uma Musume who were not from this generation. Figures from the long past, or from a future that had not yet occurred. Even if possible, figures who were altered to become stronger. The future held endless possibilities. A future that was unsure of how it could be written, as it was up to Gaia herself to write.

This future was not a tale where it'd be dependent on one's decisions such as those of Aristotelian ideals. It would be weaved right before Kincsem's eyes. As she stood, readying herself. Her body relaxed, yet firm. She had already participated in this race once, yet haplessly lost to the monster known as Eclipse.

Though when the race began, no oddities spurred. That older version of Kincsem, was correct. It would be hard for the world to interfere all the time. And this accentuated her theory. The world was not some omnipotent figure who could enlist in its greatest forces every time. Perhaps there was some cooldown, or some ethereal bindings that constricted its power.

These thoughts were dulled for a moment's time, thrown to the back of her mind. As Kincsem refocused herself on what laid ahead. The turf shook through beneath her strides, as thunderous hooves clattered. She took no mind to those of other competitors, as she began to pull away. She was strong, and immensely so compared to her competition.

And soon it was over, the maiden stakes were complete 58.3 seconds. Unnaturally fast for a race that was rated at 6.45, had they accidentally estimated this runner wrong? Because this was almost on the level of G1 sprinters. Almost. And that was a terrifying talent, especially from a horse who nobody had heard of before from Hungary.

Scouts had noticed it immediately, that this was someone who'd become great. As the race had concluded. And an over 10 length distance between the first and second position. Kincsem in first place, and Flying Millie in second. The rest..? They numbered in random positions, with nobody taking notice.

As a cacophony of clapping and cheering erupted from the stands of this rural setting. It was a small crowd, but it deserved a reaction from such a thrilling domination of the track. This was Kincsems' maiden race- filled with potential, and a bottomless pool filled with it.

And they were here today, to watch this race. As the runners began to leave the track. Some deeply saddened, some in surprise. Yet one stood out, just nodding to herself. As if in acceptance, and premonition of the results. Before they disappeared into the underbelly to enter their private rooms to change and return where they came from.

It had now become night, as Kincsem sat by her desk. The moon's shimmer whispered through the room, whilst she opened her notebook. A diary which recorded every day of her life thus far. Filled with endless thoughts and ideas, ideas that she couldn't outwardly state without seeming insane.

Recording the events that had happened to her today, it all seemed absurd. Comedically so. If anyone were to read into today's details, she'd be accused of being a fool, a delusional kid with dreams and a Chuunibyou disorder. Though it was all real. Every single event that had conspired today had been the sole truth. From the introduction of one of the greatest legends of all time, to regressing back in time, it had happened.

And that was the extent of someone that reached transcendence, to reach the heights of what one that had tempered themselves in many lifetimes could achieve. To even manipulate time itself. Kincsem admired the power that her 'True' self held, compared to herself which was still not even in their adolescence in this body. There was still time to flourish.

Though she couldn't dream of what the distant, idealistic future was, she had to remind herself of the near future. The one that spanned weeks, days, and months into her life. As one goal had been set for her. Circled a dozen times, and the race that she was planning to participate in next, was a preparation one. One that'd let her enter the Derby.

She would enter the Temple stakes.
