Chapter 48 - Chapter 47 The Lizard with Hawk's Aura

Peter swung steadily onto the rooftop of Hawk's apartment.

"Wow, Spider-…"

"Peter?"

Hawk looked at the Spider-Woman who had landed. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Peter pull off his mask to reveal his true face, and an expression of surprise appeared on his face.

After taking off his mask, Peter gave a shy laugh.

He now agreed with something Gwen had said earlier.

"Hawk, your acting really isn't that good."

"Is that so?"

Hawk was slightly taken aback. Looking at Peter, who was nodding seriously, he shrugged: "Alright, then I'll keep working on it."

If one person said his acting was bad, perhaps it was that person's judgment.

But if two people said it…

Hawk began to reflect, wondering if his acting was really that poor.

Peter smiled, then started talking about Lizard Dr. whom he had just encountered.

"By the way, Hawk, did you see what just happened?"

"Some of it, but just as I was about to look, you and that Lizard had already disappeared."

Hawk spoke truthfully.

He saw the beginning and the end, but he didn't see the process.

But it was fine; he would be able to see it on the news tomorrow.

It was well known.

The New York media's reaction speed was extremely fast. Less than three minutes after Lizard Dr. appeared on the Williamsburg Bridge, he saw three media helicopters from different TV stations circling over the Williamsburg Bridge.

Peter was slightly startled by Hawk's words. He subconsciously looked around, then glanced in the direction of the Williamsburg Bridge, which was almost invisible to the naked eye.

From here?

Peter looked at Hawk with some shock.

Hawk smiled and said, "My eyesight is pretty good, but isn't your eyesight just as good?"

Peter subconsciously nodded again.

Indeed.

If he concentrated, he could also clearly see the Williamsburg Bridge from here.

Peter thought to himself, then his eyes lit up.

"Then did you see where the Lizard ran off to?"

"No."

"Alright."

Peter sighed upon hearing this: "I didn't expect him to be so strong. He threw me off, and by the time I was ready to counterattack, he had already jumped into the river."

Hawk asked curiously, "How do you feel about his strength?"

Peter glanced at Hawk, thought seriously for a moment, then frowned and said, "His strength is greater than mine, but his speed is not as fast as mine, nor is he as flexible. However, his speed underwater is faster than mine."

Understood.

A one-punch type of guy.

He wouldn't even need to unleash his Little Universe.

Hawk listened to Peter's evaluation, thought to himself, nodded, and prepared to go back to sleep.

But…

Just then.

Peter seemed to remember something and said to Hawk, "However, this Lizard monster gave me a familiar feeling. I was trying to figure out what that feeling was when he threw me off."

Hawk looked at Peter upon hearing this.

"So you've figured out where that feeling came from now?"

"Hmm."

Peter nodded, then looked at Hawk.

Hawk didn't speak, waiting for Peter's next words, but seeing Peter looking at him after nodding, he was first startled, then realized.

"You mean me?"

"Hmm."

"How is that possible?"

Hawk felt a sense of absurdity.

How could Lizard Dr. have his aura? He had only been to Dr. Connors's laboratory once.

And even if it was the lingering aura from a handshake, more than two months had passed, so how could it still remain now?

He wasn't a goddess, and Dr. Connors wasn't a simp, nor would he be like those simps who wouldn't even wash their hands after shaking hands with their goddess.

Peter, however, looked at Hawk and said seriously, "The last time I had contact with you at the old stadium, so your aura left a particularly deep impression on me. However, the aura of that Lizard monster just now was very weak, almost imperceptible. Otherwise, I wouldn't have thought about it for so long before remembering."

Hawk looked at the confident Peter and frowned.

"Are you sure?"

"No mistake."

Peter nodded, then thought again: "That Lizard monster gave me the feeling that he had some contact with you, and thus retained your aura, just like Gwen also retains your aura, but Gwen's aura is much stronger than that Lizard monster's."

With that description, Hawk's expression became clear.

He had thought Peter was going to say something else.

So that was it.

Hawk chuckled softly and looked at Peter: "Then I probably know who he is."

Peter's eyes lit up.

"Who?"

"Curtis Connors, from Osborn Biological Industry's Regeneration Lab. Gwen went there yesterday, and Dr. Connors is also looking for regeneration technology through studying Lizards."

If Peter had said Lizard Dr. retained his information, he would have been completely bewildered.

But when Peter compared it to Gwen, he understood.

If his aura was 'one', then the aura Gwen had picked up from being with him was 'zero point five'. And the day before yesterday morning, Gwen went to Osborn Biological Industry again and had contact with Dr. Connors.

So, theoretically, the imperceptible aura Peter smelled on Dr. Connors must have come from this.

Peter's mouth dropped open in surprise as he listened to Hawk reveal the Lizard monster's true identity.

"It's him?"

"You know him too?"

"Hmm, I remember seeing him with my dad."

"Alright."

After understanding what was going on with Dr. Connors's lingering aura, Hawk was completely relieved.

He yawned.

"Alright, it's too late. I'm going to bed."

"…Alright."

Peter was still planning to continue discussing the dangers of the Lizard monster with Hawk, but seeing Hawk's appearance, he could only give up.

"Good night, Hawk."

"Good night, Spider-Woman!"

"Uh, I'm not Spider-Woman."

"Are you sure?"

Hawk, who had already turned and walked halfway back, turned his head, tilted it slightly, and looked at Peter with a half-smile: "Come on, tell me loudly, where does your web shoot from?"

Peter opened his mouth, his expression becoming serious.

"Good night, Hawk."

"Good night, Peter."

Hawk didn't tease Peter this time.

Soon.

Peter swung away.

After Hawk returned home, ate his fried chicken leg, took a cold Water bath, and then burrowed into his bed to sleep.

At the same time.

Beneath the ground of Queens, in the intricate sewage pipes that could even become home to countless homeless people during winter blizzards.

As a Beast-like roar echoed from the depths, gradually, the roar grew softer and softer.

Until finally.

The roar disappeared.

Replaced by a human groan!
