Chapter 11: The King's Throne Room
Volt, Sai, and Aki walked through the remains of the shattered mirrors and reached a massive gate forged of gold and crystal. Without hesitation, Volt pushed the doors open. Inside was a colossal hall filled with an annoying, brilliant white light. At the end of the hall, a man sat on a wooden throne, but his eyes were pure white, devoid of any humanity.
"The King of Elves," Volt said coldly as he stepped forward. "Or rather... the minor god hiding within this shell."
The King (possessed by the deity) stood up and smirked. "Demon King, you have changed. I didn't believe you could shatter the illusion of mirrors so easily. But here, in the heart of this sacred tree, my power is ten times what it is outside."
Sai drew his sword, the moonlight shimmering on its blade. "My Lord, let me test this one. I want to see what color the blood of gods truly is."
Aki readied his daggers and whispered, "I just want to steal that golden crown on his head; it looks incredibly expensive!"
Volt placed a hand on Sai's shoulder. "No, Sai. This one is mine. I want to feel the moment a god's soul chokes within my hands." Volt took another step, and with every stride, the golden floor began to blacken and burn beneath his feet.
