My eyes remained wide, fixed on the system window for several minutes.

"Fuck."My voice was nothing more than a whisper.

SS-rank?!

Two new skills?!

The Tear of Regret had done far more than I had hoped.

But there was something else that stunned me, the Double Awakening.

A rare event that had happened to only a handful of people in the novel.

This awakening didn't just evolve your talent, it also boosted your rank by several levels.

So, I wasn't surprised by the talent improvement, but by the SS-rank itself.

A power that far surpassed most people.

Only a few in the novel could match such talent.

The protagonist only had an S-level talent, which would evolve into SSS toward the end of the book, the highest rank ever recorded in the world of Heroes of the Academy.

However, my gaze remained fixed on the newly acquired skills, especially Frost Aura.

[Frost Aura - Lv. 1] (A Rank)

Active Effects

A thin layer of ice envelops you.

Your senses sharpen and your control over ice increases by 30%.

Side Effects

Prolonged use rapidly consumes physical stamina.

________________________________________

An innate skill based primarily on enhancement.

This ability is a gift passed down through generations of the Glaciel bloodline.

Innate skills are powers obtained at the moment of awakening and depend on one's lineage.

If a parent awakens an innate skill, it is highly likely the child will awaken the same one.

However, other types of skills exist.

Special Skills are powers obtained by increasing one's rank.

Then there are Dungeons Skills, which are acquired through Dungeons.

Dungeons were rifts created in space.

Inside them lay a new world, a new reality, but that didn't mean it was a place of good.

Monsters, elves, dragons, dwarves, vampires, and many other races appeared in the world.

The first time these Dungeons appeared on Levas, the world of Heroes of the Academy, life on the planet decreased drastically.

The population dropped by 80% and the survivors began to awaken, these people were called Exas.

Mana began to grow on the planet, bringing changes not only to humans but also to animals and nature.

To close and eliminate these Dungeons, one had to destroy a core.

Upon the core's destruction, various rewards were distributed to the awakeners.

Rewards varied, but the most common were skills and items, ranked from F to S.

Skills beyond S-rank can only be of three types: Special Skills, Created Skills and Celestial Skills.

Every person can unlock personal skills after doing certain actions, these are called Created Skills.

Water Magic and Ice Magic are examples of these skills.

They were born thanks to Rain's affinities with Ice and Water and his action of trying to control them.

These skills are currently at Level 0.

In this world, skills start from Level 0, where your understanding is minimal, and can reach a maximum Level of 100.

[Water magic - Lv. 0] (G Rank)

[Ice Magic- Lv. 0] (G Rank)

Water Magic and Ice Magic allow you to summon these elements and understand their true nature.

They give you the power to create water and ice and learn how to use them.

Finally, Celestial Skills are the most powerful abilities, passed down via scrolls by the world's greatest and most powerful families.

These skills were created through the sacrifice of an S-rank person or higher.

And with the Tear of Regret, I had just obtained one of these Celestial Skills.

The Body Curse and the pain that followed me were gone.

I felt a sense of lightness and freshness in my body.

The freezing temperature around me no longer hindered every movement, instead, it felt as though the cold brought me warmth.

I felt stronger.

More alive.

The tree in front of me had vanished.

I summoned the katana from the ring and stepped onto the snowy ground.

Every step sounded firm and decisive.

The forest grew darker as the sunlight was blocked by the massive canopies of the snow-covered trees.

My journey didn't last long.

"Grr." An animalistic sound halted my steps.

I looked carefully at the creature in the distance.

I knew exactly what it was.

[Snow Fox] (F-Rank)

A white fox stared at me, its eyes red and filled with murderous intent.

I took my stance, my grip on the katana tightening.

The fox approached with a swift pace, its claws moving as it aimed for my neck.

My hand moved.

I managed to parry the claw, but the fox didn't stop.

Its mouth hung open, and with a decisive movement, it tried to bite my arm.

I tried to dodge, but I didn't move in time.

The fox's teeth sank into the flesh of my arm.

I felt a searing pain as blood immediately gushed from the wound.

The pain subsided as the adrenaline took hold of my body.

The fox clung to my left arm with its bite.

But my other arm moved in that instant.

The movement was decisive and free of hesitation.

I had only one thing to do, kill that monster.

The katana's blade pierced the fox's chest.

Its body slumped to the ground, blood leaking from its mouth.

After a few seconds, it drew its last breath.

I had changed.

My first kill.

Was I injured?

Yes.

But I had survived.

At that moment, however, I began to hear whispers in the distance that grew louder and louder.

Several Snow Foxes were walking in a pack toward me.

And behind them, a more imposing figure seemed to lead the entire group.

A massive snow fox with two tails.

[Snow Fox] (D- Rank)

The pressure radiating from that fox was dangerous.

My nerves tensed in response to the freezing atmosphere.

Before me stood four Snow Foxes of F+ Rank.

[Frozen Eyes]

My eyes glowed slightly.

My vision changed, thin red threads filled the space in front of me.

Time seemed to slow down.

A slight discomfort emerged from my eyes.

I didn't have all the time in the world; I had to move.

I lunged forward with the katana in hand, positioning myself in front of one of the foxes.

I followed the red thread weaving through the fox's body and struck with all my might.

The fox's body collapsed to the ground.

I moved quickly toward the others, the red thread seemed to dance in the air.

A single strike, and another fox fell.

[Frost Aura]

A thin blue layer began to envelop my entire body.

The mana around me seemed to be under my complete control.

I created two small crystals shaped like bullets, added a rotation to them, and fired them at high speed toward the foxes.

The Snow Foxes didn't have time to understand what was happening.

A small hole formed in their foreheads, and they fell to the ground together.

Only the great fox remained.

The pressure I felt earlier had almost entirely vanished, mana began to circulate in my hand.

The Snow Fox looked at me with rage, its mouth opening ferociously as it lunged at me.

In my hand, a translucent crystalline globe formed, the reflection of both myself and the beast could be seen within it.

The fox was now right in front of me, its claws sweeping in my direction.

I summoned a small wall of mana and blocked the claws, but it wasn't over yet.

The ice wall began to melt, and in its place, the monster's open maw was right before me, ready to devour me.

I took two steps to my left, shifted my body, and firmly discharged the mana from my hand, thrusting the mana globe into the fox's mouth.

The beast stopped abruptly.

Its eyes met mine.

The emotions reflecting in the fox's eyes were rage and fear.

The globe inside its mouth exploded, releasing a massive surge of glacial energy.

The Snow Fox's body began to freeze bit by bit.

"Grrhh." The beast let out a final whisper before being completely encased in ice.

With a flick of my sword, I struck the ice statue that had formed, and a second later, the sculpture shattered into freezing crystal shards.

My breathing was heavy, but my mind was cold, composed.

The word "fear" didn't even seem to cross my mind.

I was indifferent.

Kill or be killed.

That's the main rule in this doomed world.
