The words hung in the air like a bomb.
"What?" Maya's voice came out strangled.
"Turned," Raphael repeated calmly. "Into a supernatural. There are several species that accept human transformation. Werewolves, obviously. Vampires, though I wouldn't recommend that route. Even certain types of fae can adopt humans into their bloodlines." He paused. "It would solve your mortality and capability concerns. Give you centuries instead of decades. Make you truly part of this world instead of just visiting it."
Maya felt like the floor had dropped out from under her. "I... I never thought about that. Is that even possible? Would anyone agree to do it?"
"The pack would turn you in a heartbeat if you asked," Raphael said with certainty. "Damian already considers you pack-adjacent. One formal request and a bonding ceremony and you'd be wolf. End of mortality problem."
"But that would mean giving up being human. Completely. Forever."
