Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: I Let Them Wonder

Power isn't always loud.

Sometimes, it's the pause between breaths.

The unanswered question.

The fear of not knowing what comes next.

I didn't expose everything.

Not yet.

That was the first thing they noticed.

The press waited.

The board waited.

The courts waited.

And I gave them nothing.

Rumors bloomed like poison flowers.

Some said I was preparing a final confession that would destroy an entire network of elites.

Others whispered I'd already handed evidence to the authorities and was simply enjoying the delay.

Both were wrong.

And both were useful.

My silence became torture.

Every phone call made them flinch.

Every knock sounded like an arrest.

Every headline felt like a warning.

They started turning on each other.

Exactly as I planned.

At the office, I moved calmly.

Signed documents.

Approved takeovers.

Closed deals.

As if nothing was wrong.

That unsettled them more than rage ever could.

I received messages.

Anonymous pleas.

Please talk to me.

We can fix this.

I was only following orders.

I deleted them all.

That night, I sat alone with the files.

Names.

Dates.

Proof.

Enough to end bloodlines.

Enough to rewrite history.

I didn't feel anger.

I felt clarity.

When people think you're emotional, they underestimate you.

When they think you're silent, they panic.

My former allies began leaking information—on each other.

Executives resigned "for personal reasons."

One attempted to flee the country.

He was stopped at the airport.

I smiled when I heard.

Someone finally asked me directly.

"What are you waiting for?"

I looked at them.

"I'm not waiting," I replied. "I'm watching."

That night, I dreamed of my past life.

Not the pain.

The moment before betrayal.

When I trusted too easily.

I woke up calm.

The city slept.

But my enemies didn't.

They stared at ceilings.

Listened for footsteps.

Imagined my name on every legal document.

I let them wonder.

Because uncertainty breaks people faster than truth.
