So, how was Practical: Teaching Hikigaya's Ability-First Classroom?
For me, this is my favorite fanfic of all time. I've read it many times already, and it still leaves a strong impression every time. The way the MC intervenes in the story is excellent—it fits perfectly, almost too perfectly. Another reason, of course, is that the MC is Hikigaya Hachiman himself.
What I love most about this fanfic is the MC's approach in rejecting the school's ideology, and how he judges people by placing morality first, with strength coming second. His problem-solving methods feel very faithful to the original work, and his strength never feels exaggerated or unrealistic. The way his relationships with the girls are built is also excellent. Even though some readers might find it unpleasant or dislike it, for me it's absolutely perfect. Each event that connects him with the girls feels like it highlights their individual personalities.
To be honest, it's extremely difficult to make a harem plot work for a character like Hachiman. Even choosing just one person is already hard for him (since he's always going on about "the real thing"). Because of that, the author recognizing the MC's strong sense of responsibility and skillfully using it to connect him with the girls especially Kamuro deserves a huge thumbs-up. Using her identity as a thief to "steal" someone else's boyfriend was brilliant 🤣🤣🤣

Actually, there's also a "what if" version. At present, it has only 179 chapters. The story goes back to the time when Honami visited Hachiman's dorm, but this time the MC still rejects her as well. Naturally, Honami becomes even more obsessed than before. Some events unfold differently from the original version.
In this version, Hachiman has no intention of joining the student council. During the school festival, instead of getting involved with Class D, he organizes a concert to help people recognize Sakura's value. Kushida becomes quite attached to Hachiman after he reveals the dark events of his own past to her. There's also Watanabe's love confession to Mako and yes, Hachiman uses the same method he once used to help Ebina, but this time Mako takes advantage of the situation to claim Hachiman for herself, throwing everything into chaos.
