Chapter 7 - chapter 7. The Final Spark

"Saintess, these are the locations where monsters frequently appear. The Heroes compiled these reports."

Iselyn took the [Monster Habitat Report] from Sister Hilaia.

The information came from the Heroes she had knighted. It detailed the types of monsters in each area and their specific numbers. It also included the distribution of nearby human settlements and medical facilities.

Iselyn nodded slowly. She was very satisfied with these reports.

"Should we reveal this information to the Princess?"

Iselyn rested her chin on her hand. She hesitated for a moment.

'I will tell her after her injuries have healed.'

She had organized the knight induction ceremony specifically for Mo Wan.

She planned to show Mo Wan special attention during the ceremony. She wanted Mo Wan to fall completely for the human side. If she succeeded, she could keep Mo Wan by her side as a nun. She would fully reform her.

However, she did not expect Mo Wan to refuse the knight's oath of Vesa. She had to use another method to keep Mo Wan close.

She originally thought Mo Wan would be heartbroken after being abandoned by the demons. It seemed Mo Wan still missed them.

The duty of the Saintess was to protect humanity and exterminate the demons. But exterminating the demons was not easy.

There was a specific inheritance among the demons called [Demon God Descent].

It existed to prevent the total extinction of the Demon King's line. It ensured the demons would not remain leaderless if the King died unexpectedly.

[Demon God Descent] was the final method for the demons to protect the spark of the Demon King.

When the last of the Demon King's bloodline was severed, a powerful Demon God would descend from the Demon Realm. It would protect the demons and ignite the flames of revenge.

After the demons regained their footing, the Demon God would select a new King. It would grant the [Demon God's Blessing] to that bloodline. The chosen one and their descendants would carry the crown forever.

Therefore, killing the Demon King was not enough to destroy the race.

Iselyn was the tenth generation Saintess of humanity.

She carried the expectations of the Sun God and all the people of Vesa. she had to achieve a feat greater than the previous nine Saintesses. She wanted to ensure eternal peace for humanity.

She had prepared for this moment for a very long time.

She wanted Mo Wan to be the final spark of the Demon King's bloodline. Then, she would protect that spark in her palm. She would not let it go out.

She wanted this spark to depend on her willingly. Mo Wan would forget her home and abandon her mission to lead the demons.

Iselyn gave Hilaia a few instructions and let her leave the resting room.

She looked at the gloomy sky outside. The time was right. She wanted to see what Mo Wan was doing.

Iselyn leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. She linked her divine sense to the [Ring of Monitoring] on Mo Wan's finger.

She heard light footsteps. She heard the small sounds of objects being moved.

Aside from that, Iselyn heard no words.

'It seems she has moved into the new home I prepared for her.'

She was about to disconnect. Suddenly, she heard the rustling of clothes. She listened patiently.

Iselyn did not lack patience.

She had spent many years preparing for the struggle between humans and demons. She did not mind waiting for one night.

She focused her divine sense entirely on the ring. She wanted to know all of Mo Wan's secrets.

Then...

She heard Mo Wan sobbing softly.

It was a mournful low cry. Mo Wan tried to suppress her sobs even though no one was around. It was a heartbreaking sound.

'Why is she crying?'

'Is she homesick? Or is she afraid of being controlled by the Saintess?'

Iselyn reflected on her actions since meeting Mo Wan. She believed her arrangements were restrained. However, if Mo Wan thought about it, she would realize the plan was pre-designed.

Iselyn heard the crying and did not hide her joy. The corners of her mouth curled upward.

Mo Wan was a fragile girl.

Fragility meant she was easier to control.

Iselyn continued to listen.

Then, she heard sounds that were not very good. They replaced the sobbing of the young woman.

Her expression became serious. She knew what those sounds were.

'So... the Demon Princess has this kind of hobby.'

She counted the time. After about ten minutes, she heard a long sigh.

Iselyn opened her eyes and withdrew her consciousness.

The heavy breathing and whimpering of the young woman still echoed in her ears. Because of the divine sense link, Iselyn felt as if she had personally witnessed the rising and falling of the tide.

Iselyn did not think such things were shameful. Many nuns in the Church struggled with this.

Iselyn believed that human desire was natural. As long as one was not promiscuous, there was no need for shame.

She taught the nuns that they could love themselves. However, they could not allow anyone other than the Gods to touch their bodies.

Every word she spoke to the believers followed the doctrines of the Church.

As for herself, she was very strict.

She could understand these emotions, but she had never felt such lust.

No one taught her about these things. No one dared to. She was the absolute standard for the Church. She was the model of someone who sacrificed herself to the Gods.

Iselyn took off her cloak and stood up.

She walked out of the Church.

Her clothes naturally changed into ordinary civilian attire. It was a simple light blue dress. She looked like a girl next door.

She had important business and did not want to be conspicuous. She did not want believers to stop her on the street.

She arrived at the door of the new house she prepared for Mo Wan.

The windows were dark. No lights were on.

Iselyn hesitated. She decided to knock politely.

Ten seconds passed. No one responded.

She thought Mo Wan should have finished cleaning up by now.

She knocked again and waited. She could feel the distance between herself and the ring. Mo Wan was inside the house.

Another ten seconds passed. The purple-haired girl did not open the door.

Iselyn pressed her palm against the wood. The door opened automatically.

The living room was empty and cold. Iselyn closed the door and walked to Mo Wan's room. The room was empty.

She went to the bathroom where a yellow light was shining. She walked through the mist.

Iselyn saw the girl in the tub. Mo Wan held her knees and leaned against the wall of the tub. Her legs partially covered her chest. Her white neck was soaked in hot water. She looked like a flower in a greenhouse that had never seen a storm. Her collarbones and chin made her look very thin.

The towel on her head was still steaming. Her eyes were closed. Water droplets clung to her long eyelashes. Her expression was peaceful.

She was sleeping in the bath. She did not look very happy.

The recent indulgence had only relieved her stress. It did not make her feel like she was in paradise.

'What a poor girl.'

'If she were a human girl, I would keep her in my home. I would raise her as my own daughter.'

It was a pity she was a demon. She was the Demon Princess.

Iselyn bent down. She put her right hand under the armpit of the purple-haired girl. Her left hand went under Mo Wan's legs.

The sudden contact woke the girl. She opened her eyes like a startled deer. Her hazy eyes were filled with deep hostility.

Mo Wan recognized Iselyn. The hostility faded slightly.

However, her body remained tense.

The embarrassment of waking up replaced the fear from her dream.

"Ah!" (Saintess... why... why are you here?)
