Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

It's dark out currently. Besides Layvern, not many other people came into this shop. Only about 3 other people came in almost 5 hours now. I've been sitting in one spot for the entire time and it has been killing me. I yawn as I stand up to stretch, Irui pops out of his office going over to the sign on the front window, turning it so the closed faces outside, my eyes following him the entire time. "Am I able to leave now?" I question, breaking the silence that plagued the surrounding area. Irui simply nods, I'm guessing he's too tired from working and being that energetic all day. He drags his feet to his back to his office, his back slouching.

I head over to the front door, the bell ringing as I open it to leave. The colder night air hits me in the face once I step out. I should probably invest in some new, warmer clothing. I head across the street to a back alleyway. I wander through the back alleys with practice ease. A thought strikes me, where did I put my old clothes? Maybe that's why it's so cold. Usually I wear oversized black pants with a sage green shirt that falls off one of my shoulders. These pants that Irui gave me are way thinner than my usual pants. I let out an annoyed sigh, whatever I'll just get it tomorrow.

I keep walking, trying to get to where I usually hide my stuff, you can never just leave your stuff laying about. I turn a corner, heading onto a proper street. No cars around since they are usually hard to come by, so I don't exactly need to worry about that, a little while up the road there's a group of about 4 people surrounding a lean, taller male, oh, it's the person who was with Vic earlier besides Layvern. Why can't I get Vic out of my head? Shit heads ganging up on people, people like that make me angry, is it that hard you can't fight one on one. I frown as I walk towards the group.

Before I even make it there, one of the groupies decides it's time to attack the black haired man. Before I could even react to yell out the black haired male weaving the punch stepping back slightly before sending a punch of his own into the man's liver, I wince slightly at that punch. I stop in my tracks spectating the fight. The black haired man bounces on his toes for a second seemingly getting warmed up as another one comes at him. This time from behind, I ran up behind the man trying to attack the black haired male, kicking the back of his leg out, sending him to the ground, sitting on top of him so he couldn't get back up. The black haired male turned around a bit surprised, looking down at me. I spot one of the two remaining guys trying to sneak up on the man, the black haired male in question turns around throwing the first punch the the side of the man's head, in which the man blocks before getting hit in the side with a knee. The man falls to the ground with a gasp, gripping his side. The last remaining man runs away down the street.

"Sorry 'bout that." the dark haired man says as he turns around to look at me, rubbing the back of his head. I get off the man I knocked to the ground, watching as he helps his friends up before running away with them.

"Why you apologizing?" I ask, a bit confused.

"Well, I'm not usually allowed to fight in public so just in case ya'know." the man says with a smirk. Reaching out his hand, "I'm Lou."

"Er, Valya." I say, glancing at his hand before looking back at his face. His face lights up in recognition.

"Hey, you work down at that clothing shop owned by Irui?.. Er what's its name?" Lou says trailing off, I nod. Lou smiles down at me. "So you met Lay?" he questions again, i nod again. He leans into my face, I glare at him as I lean back away from his face. "I guess you are pretty cute." he says out of the blue as he scans my face.

My jaw dropped a bit in surprise and at his bluntness, "Cute!?" I was shocked.

"Oh~ she didn't say it to your face? That's a surprise" Lou says, laughing loudly.

"Ive been called a lot of stuff but never cute?..." I mutter, dumbfounded.

"I mean you are quite short so that adds onto it~" the taller male teases, I glare up at him, before turning and walking away, the street only lit up by the illuminated street lights. "Now now~ don't walk away!" Lou said with a teasing tone as he jogged up to my side, "Come on cutie~ it wasn't that bad" a laugh following the end of it. I just ignored him. My hands clenched, I'm not trying to use unnecessary violence like I would always do in the past. A tiny bit of blush appeared on my cheeks, I've never been called a cutie before, it makes me embarrassed.

I punch him in the side softly, more like a warning than an actual punch, annoyed as I glare at him. "Owww! That hurttt!" he says dramatically, I didn't hit him that hard anyway, it was more like a light tap on the shoulder. "How could you cutie!" Lou whines, using that nickname again,

"Shut up before I hit you harder." I glare at him, frowning. Lou wraps his arm around my shoulders. I attempt to shrug him off, but he just grips tighter, pulling my body towards hiss.

"Let go.." I growl out, even though there's no real malice behind it.

"Where are we going?" Lou questions, completely ignoring my warning, I just shrug in response, "you ate dinner yet?" I shake my head, a bit too annoyed to respond. "Hmm, what you wanna eat? My treat." Lou questions, patting my shoulder.

"Do all you weirdos just be buddy buddy with anyone you meet." I say, slapping his hand off my shoulder. Lou finally reels his arm back with a little smirk.

"Nah just the cute ones."

"Do you wanna get punched harder?" I question with a tilt of my head.

"Anyway." Lou says diverting the conversation, "lets get… hm.." he stops walking as we reach a crossroad. A noise of static rings out, Lou reaches into his pants pocket pulling out a radio. "maybe not." Lou mumbles as he answers it.

"Lou do me a favor and go down near Galith Street," a voice calls out through the radio, the voice sounding awfully similar to Vic's.

"Gotta run cutie." Lou says, before jogging off.

"Call me cutie again and you're gonna get my fist in your face!" I yell at his departing figure, my lip quivering with annoyance. He just turns around, jogging backwards a bit as I winks and sticks his tongue out at me. I watch him turn around and turn a corner, I sigh. Who are these weirdos and why the hell are they so friendly to a stranger. I can't remember where I saw that symbol, both Vic and Lou had them on their sweaters. I shiver slightly, how was Lou able to go out in this air without sleeves? Some weirdos they are.

I should find a place to sleep. "Should I be more trusting?" I mumble to no one in particular, "but I just met them.. interacting with people is confusing." I scratch my head, sighing, a hand on my hip, my gaze traveling to the ground. Jao's last words to me before parting were to socialize, is this just the norm? Maybe I'm just a bit too guarded. Jao had always said I was so tense, I guess I just have to loosen up a bit.

I look up, I have to get to Ronam Inn. unless I want to sleep on the street tonight and probably get robbed. I have enough money for one night anyway.

I walk mindlessly. I miss Jao. After about 4 minutes of walking I reached the inn. It had an open lobby, a desk area in the middle, a wall full of keys behind it, and a red rug going up to the desk. The room has orangish yellow lighting giving it a warm feel.

"Welcome to Ronan inn, how can I help?" the man at the front desk says as i walk in, the little bell above the door alerting the man of my presence.

"One night room." I say as I pull out my little black wallet, some parts of my wallet are falling apart or ripping but it does the job. I take out a few bills, the needed amount for one night. The man nods as he grabs the bills, standing up to grab a key behind him.

"Room 38 third floor." the man said with a smile as he handed me the key. I nod, grabbing the key from his hand. I walk off to the side where a staircase is, this building is weirdly symmetrical. The staircase itself is a bit weird, winding up in an almost spiral way. I start my climb up to the third floor, this inn for some reason counts the ground floor as one floor. A bit confusing the first time but at least they have the number labels on the floors. I enter the door that leads to a hallway filled with doors on each side. There are about 20 rooms on each floor. I'm near the end of the hallway since the numbers on the doors go up from 20. Once I reach the door I unlock it using the key. The room itself looks like a very standard room from my knowledge, which I will admit is not a lot. It has a single bed in the middle of the room, a rug beneath it. A bathroom doorway to my left. I'm surprised they have a bathroom for this inn being on the cheaper side. I could go for a shower anyway, I can basically feel the dirt piled up on my skin. I enter the bathroom, it's a very small bathroom, the sink right beside the door with the toilet beside the sink. On the far wall is the shower, a glass panel separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom. I open the glass panel, turning on the shower to a decent temperature, a bit on the hotter side. I should cut my hair, it's gotten decently long since I had last cut it, the back having grown to the bottom of my shoulder blades.

I reach for the knife in my pocket, placing it on the sink counter. Stripping down until I'm bare, throwing the clothes into a small pile in the corner. Stepping into the shower, I sigh in contempt. Leaning to the side as I let the water run down my body, my hand slowly traveling down to the tattoo on my lower side, resting just above my hip, a forever reminder of my past life.

After I finish washing up, I look to see if there's a towel in here. I squat down to check the cabinet under the sink, lucky me, two white folded towels lay underneath the sink. Grabbing one of the towels, I wipe myself off until I deem it good. Slipping on the pair of clothes I had just worn.

I walk out of the bathroom, walking over and flopping down onto the bed tiredly. Inching over to stuff my face into a pillow. Finally, a bed.
