I didn't bother to answer. I just picked at my ear with my pinky finger, looking at the sky.
She asked again, stepping into my personal space, her perfume mixing with the ozone smell of her anger.
"You started it, didn't you? You refused to use a magic scroll because you are confident, right? Well, let's put that confidence to the test. Let's have one of us withdraw from the Expedition today."
Ariana looked up at me, her head cocked crookedly, eyes flashing with malice.
"You were regarded as a trash support mage, remember? Let's make a bet. The one whose Mana Crystal flies the shortest distance... drops out. Right now."
Her voice was as cold as ice, but her eyes were burning.
The other students gasped. A withdrawal from the Freshman Expedition meant failing the semester. It was academic suicide.
