Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: I Know You're Anxious, But Just Hold On

The MAC (Monster Attack Crew) base is established within a space station located 400 kilometers from Earth.

Gen, who has already joined the MAC team, is beginning to experience life as the designated scapegoat. His teammates dismiss his suggestions based on seniority, and despite him clearly spotting the twin monsters, their patrol radar shows no reaction whatsoever.

The feeling of not being trusted is deeply uncomfortable for Gen, leaving him quite discouraged upon returning to base. Thinking of the twin monsters hiding in the ocean depths, he clenches his fists, filled with resentment.

Just as he is about to go find Dan Moroboshi, the communications operator in the conference room, Shirakawa Junko, turns and calls out to him:

"Gen! There's a call from Minami Gymnasium! They say they have information about the monsters to tell you!"

"What!?" Gen, who was turning to leave, stops in his tracks. He spins around and quickly reaches the communications console, grabbing the telephone receiver.

"This is Gen! Have the monsters appeared!?"

The MAC team members around him, hearing this, are all drawn to the commotion, quickly gathering around.

The disturbance catches Dan Moroboshi's attention. Seeing that there is news about the monsters, he leans on his crutch and approaches.

Meanwhile, in the office at Minami Gymnasium, out of consideration for privacy, Hiko and Director Ōmura Tadashi have left, closing the door behind them.

Alone in the room, upon hearing Gen's voice, Xia Yan immediately lowers and deepens his tone:

"Ultraman Leo..."

At the MAC base, Gen jolts in shock, his pupils contracting sharply. His hand trembles, nearly dropping the receiver. His face pales as he quickly glances at his teammates. Seeing they don't seem to have heard, he relaxes slightly.

Dan Moroboshi, watching nearby, furrows his brow.

Even though he can no longer transform into Ultraman Seven, he is not an ordinary Earthling, so he heard those words as well.

Clang, clang. Leaning on his metal crutch, he makes his way to Gen's side. His expression stern, he barks at the gathered team members: "What are you all crowding around for! Get to your fighters and prepare for launch!"

Dan Moroboshi is quite strict within MAC. Seeing his stern face, the team members hastily scatter.

Gen gives his captain a grateful look, but then, remembering something, his gaze sharpens as he demands into the receiver: "Who are you! How do you know about the monsters!?"

The voice is unfamiliar, definitely not someone from Minami Gymnasium. Combined with the caller immediately revealing his identity, Gen is deeply concerned this might be an alien.

Xia Yan's low voice continues: "Listen, who I am isn't important. Yamaguchi Hiko is the woman you like, right? She's quite beautiful."

"Bastard! What do you want!?" Gen's fist clenches.

Having already assumed it's an alien, rage now blazes within him.

But Xia Yan remains completely unhurried: "No, it's not me who wants to do something. It's your enemy, Magma Seijin (The Magma Alien)."

"What!!!" Gen's expression twists. By now, his patience is frayed by the suspense, and he can't help but shout: "What is Magma Seijin planning to do!!!"

"Ōmura Tadashi, Nomura Takeshi, Menda Tōru, Menda Kaoru..." Xia Yan ignores the questioning, calmly listing names of people close to Gen, ending with a low, sinister chuckle: "Leo, Magma Seijin told me it plans to slowly torture to death everyone you know. Oh, right. The first one... will be the woman you like, Yamaguchi Hiko."

"Such a pity for such a pretty girl. Right now, Magma Seijin is at—"

Without waiting for Gen's response, click — he hangs up, leaving only a dial tone.

"Hey! Hey!!"

Gen is instantly frantic! He is now hopping mad, roaring into the receiver: "Finish your sentence!!!"

Dan Moroboshi has been listening the whole time. Seeing Gen lose his composure, he grabs his shoulder firmly and says in a low, grave voice: "Gen, don't act rashly!"

"This could very well be the enemy's trap!"

However, Gen's mind at this moment is filled solely with the thought that Magma Seijin is about to attack Hiko. He isn't listening to Dan Moroboshi at all.

"Damn it!" Cursing, Gen forcefully slams down the receiver.

The scar in his memory is torn open. The scene of his home planet L77's destruction once again surfaces in his mind.

Back then, he was weak. His father and mother fell one after another in the invasion war, his brother Astra perished in the flames, and in the end, even L77 itself couldn't be saved.

Now, having come to Earth, he finally made a few friends and finally felt a sense of home! But now, dammit! Magma! You bastard!

Gen's eyes are bloodshot. He immediately strides out of the MAC conference room, heading straight for the fighter jet hangar, prepared to pilot a fighter directly to Minami Gymnasium.

As for why he doesn't just transform and fly over... perhaps energy conservation is just ingrained in his bones. As an Ultraman whose active time on Earth doesn't even fill three minutes, Gen is very self-aware. So even though anger rules his mind, his last shred of reason remembers he doesn't have much energy. He'd probably become weak after transforming and flying there, making it difficult to face the enemy.

Dan Moroboshi, seeing Gen act so rashly, quickly leans on his crutch and clang, clang hurries after him. It's unknown how a man with a limp moves so swiftly, but Dan Moroboshi soon overtakes Gen.

His iron crutch swishes up, blocking Gen's path. His tone is severe: "Gen! Don't act recklessly!"

Stopped, Gen halts. Seeing Dan Moroboshi blocking him, his expression grows anxious, his tone urgent: "There's no more time to waste! I must go save Hiko and the others!" With that, he tries to go around.

But Dan Moroboshi has no intention of letting him go. If the twin monsters appeared at Kuroshio Island, MAC would get the message immediately. The lack of reaction now proves Magma Seijin hasn't made a move. That entire phone call was pushing Gen to go to Minami Gymnasium. From Dan Moroboshi's years of experience, this is highly likely an alien trap, waiting for Gen to jump in.

He forcefully blocks Gen again with his crutch, somewhat exasperated: "Foolish! With your current strength, the slightest misstep could lead to defeat. At that point, forget saving others, you'd lose your own life!"

But Gen has clearly lost his composure, worried about Hiko and the others. "Captain!" Seeing Dan Moroboshi's unyielding look, in desperation, Gen remembers how easily he repelled Magma Seijin and the twin monsters before. Gritting his teeth, he says: "Then I'll prove it to you by winning!"

With that, he forcefully pushes the crutch aside. But before he can take a step, swish! In the blink of an eye, Dan Moroboshi's iron crutch is instantly pressed against Gen's throat!

Gen looks back in disbelief, but Dan Moroboshi's gaze is firm, his attitude resolute. Their eyes lock, neither willing to back down.

At that moment, Shirakawa Junko, the communications officer, hurries over to report an emergency: "Captain! The tide level at Kuroshio Island is showing abnormalities!"
