Chapter 159 - CHAPTER 159

The narrow corridor transformed into a battlefield between control and destruction.

Ethan stood alone at the rear.

The distance between him and the team grew farther and farther.

The platform carrying the core continued moving slowly forward, out of his reach.

But Ethan's attention was completely fixed on the three energy silhouettes now trembling before him.

No longer just shadows.

No longer just fragments.

They were beginning to take shape.

Clearer.

More stable.

More… alive.

Ethan's breath felt heavy.

Cold sweat trickled down his temples.

But his eyes remained focused.

Unwavering.

"Calm down…" he whispered softly.

The words were not for humans.

But for something that had not yet fully understood its own existence.

The first silhouette responded.

Its trembling slowed.

As if recognizing the frequency Ethan was emitting.

But the other two

did not.

They spun around.

Searching.

As if hunting.

Ethan took a long breath.

He centered himself.

Ignoring the pain in his body.

Ignoring the sound of the platform growing more distant.

Ignoring everything—

except one purpose.

To hold them back.

The energy within him began to move.

The same resonance as the first core now stirred again.

Stronger.

Clearer.

Like two waves trying to merge.

The second silhouette drew closer.

Fast.

Unhesitating.

Ethan raised his hand.

A faint blue light appeared around his palm.

The collision occurred

without a sound.

But its impact was felt.

The space between them trembled.

Ethan was pushed back half a step.

But he held his ground.

The silhouette retreated slightly.

Its vibrations shifted.

No longer fully aggressive.

But not yet calm.

"Listen to me…" Ethan said more firmly.

The first silhouette was now almost still.

But the third

was different.

It trembled faster.

Wilder.

As if rejecting control.

As if rejecting Ethan's very existence.

Suddenly

it attacked.

A wave of energy struck straight toward Ethan.

This time stronger.

Sharper.

Ethan could not fully dodge in time.

His body was thrown against the wall.

The hard impact stole his breath.

His vision blurred for a moment.

But he forced himself to stand up.

Because he knew

if he fell now

no one would stop them.

Ahead

the platform continued moving.

Daniel looked back.

His face tense.

"We can't leave him behind!"

Leonard held his position.

"We can't turn back either!"

Richard stood at the edge of the platform.

His eyes were fixed on Ethan.

The distance kept growing.

But his gaze did not waver.

Silent.

Yet full of resolve.

"Keep going," he finally said.

Daniel stared at him in disbelief.

"He's alone!"

Richard replied coldly,

"He chose that."

Leonard added softly,

"And we must make sure it wasn't in vain."

The platform kept moving forward.

Cutting through the ever-deepening corridor.

Meanwhile at the rear

Ethan stood up again.

His body felt heavy.

But something inside him… had changed.

Not just holding on.

But beginning to understand.

He closed his eyes for a moment.

Aligning himself.

Feeling the three waves before him.

One stable.

One uncertain.

One wild.

He opened his eyes.

His gaze sharp.

"If you won't calm down…"

he said softly.

"…I'll make you."

He stepped forward.

Straight toward the most aggressive silhouette.

His movements were fast.

Without hesitation.

His hand raised

and this time

he did not just hold back.

He counterattacked.

Not with physical strength.

But with resonance.

A wave of energy from his body collided with the silhouette.

The impact made the corridor tremble.

Blue light spread across all the walls.

The silhouette trembled violently.

But it did not shatter immediately.

It fought back.

Ethan felt something.

Not just energy.

But… a reaction.

Like a living creature being forced to submit.

He strengthened his push.

Deeper.

Stronger.

"Be still!" he shouted.

The wave finally weakened.

Its vibrations subsided.

Slowly

it stabilized.

All three silhouettes now stood motionless.

Not attacking.

Not moving.

Just… present.

Ethan panted.

His body was almost giving out.

But he still stood.

Still conscious.

Still in control.

He stared at them.

"Go…"

His voice was soft.

But enough.

The silhouettes trembled.

Then.

slowly.

they shrank.

Grew smaller.

And finally—

disappeared.

As if they had never been there.

Silence returned to the corridor.

But Ethan did not move right away.

He stood still.

Trying to steady his breath.

Trying to understand what had just happened.

Because what he had done—

was not just holding on.

He had taken control.

And that.

was dangerous.

Ahead.

the platform finally reached the end of the path.

A large room opened up.

Wider than before.

More modern.

Bright lights were on.

Daniel climbed down immediately.

"We're here!"

Leonard scanned the surroundings.

"This place is newer."

Richard remained silent.

His eyes were still fixed on the corridor.

Waiting.

A few seconds passed.

Then

footsteps were heard.

Slow.

Heavy.

Ethan emerged from the darkness.

Walking slowly.

But still upright.

Daniel approached at once.

"Ethan!"

Ethan stopped.

Stared at them.

His eyes were different again.

Deeper.

More… calm.

"I'm fine."

Leonard smiled faintly.

"You call that 'fine'?"

Ethan did not answer.

He turned toward the core.

The blue light inside it was now more stable.

But he knew.

this was not the end.

Richard stepped closer.

His gaze sharp.

"You've changed."

Not a question.

A statement.

Ethan stared back at him.

"There was no choice."

Silence fell.

But this time.

it was not due to tension.

But due to awareness.

That the limit had been crossed.

That something had collapsed.

And what remained.

was no longer just humans trying to survive.

But something that was evolving.

Something that had no name yet.

And Ethan.

was right at its center.

The spacious room did not bring a sense of safety.

Quite the opposite.

Bright white lights hung from the high ceiling, casting long shadows on the cold metal floor. The walls were clean too clean, like a place that had just been prepared for something that had not yet happened.

Daniel took a few steps forward.

His eyes moved quickly, scanning every corner.

"This place… isn't part of the old facility," he said softly.

Leonard Graves touched the wall surface with his fingertips.

"New technology. Even more advanced than before."

Richard Blackwood stood still.

His gaze swept across the room.

Calculating possibilities.

Measuring threats.

Ethan stayed close to the core.

But this time.

he did not just feel the core.

He felt… the entire room.

As if there was a subtle current connecting everything.

He closed his eyes for a moment.

Trying to understand.

And he realized something.

"We're not alone."

The words made everyone tense immediately.

Leonard turned quickly.

"Where?"

Ethan opened his eyes.

His gaze was fixed on the left side of the room.

"Behind the wall."

Daniel furrowed his brow.

"That's impossible.."

But before he could finish.

Click.

A mechanical sound was heard.

A thin line appeared on the wall.

Then it.

slowly opened.

A large panel slid aside.

Revealing another space behind it.

Dark.

But not empty.

Silhouettes stood inside.

Not one.

Not two.

Many.

The lights in that room turned on one by one.

And what was seen.

made Daniel freeze.

"That…"

His voice caught in his throat.

Leonard narrowed his eyes.

"Copies."

Inside that room.

stood dozens of structures.

Similar to the Helios core.

But smaller in size.

Rougher.

More unstable.

Blue light pulsed inside each one.

Like hearts beating out of sync.

Richard stepped forward one step.

His expression changed.

He looked truly surprised.

"This… is a production network."

Daniel shook his head slowly.

"It's impossible…"

He walked closer, almost unconsciously.

"This isn't just research… this is manufacturing."

Leonard laughed a little, without humor.

"So we're even later than we thought."

Ethan did not move.

But his eyes swept across the entire room.

Every small core.

Every pulse.

Every vibration.

He could feel them all.

All connected.

All alive.

And all of them.

not yet stable.

"We have to destroy this," Daniel said suddenly.

The tone of his voice had changed.

Firmer.

More urgent.

Leonard turned.

"Finally something I agree with without debate."

Richard did not answer right away.

His gaze remained on the structures.

Thinking.

Calculating.

Ethan stepped forward.

But not toward the main core.

Toward the new room.

"Don't," Daniel said quickly.

Ethan did not stop.

"I need to look closer."

Leonard sighed.

"Of course."

Richard watched.

But this time.

he did not stop him.

Ethan stepped into the room.

The temperature inside was different.

Colder.

Sharper.

Like air filled with raw energy.

He approached one of the small cores.

The light inside pulsed erratically.

Like something not yet fully formed.

He raised his hand slowly.

But did not touch it.

Only felt it.

And in an instant.

waves flooded into his mind.

Fast.

Rough.

Unlike the large core.

These were more… wild.

More raw.

Ethan held his breath.

He saw flashes.

Not full memories.

But fragments.

Experiments.

Failures.

Repeated attempts.

Arman.

The name appeared again.

But not alone.

There were others.

Many others.

People working in the shadows.

"This isn't just one organization…" he whispered.

Daniel stared at him from outside.

"What do you mean?"

Ethan opened his eyes.

His gaze serious.

"This is a collaboration."

Silence fell.

Leonard raised an eyebrow.

"More players. More problems."

Richard finally spoke,

"And harder to stop."

Ethan stared at the small core again.

"This isn't finished yet."

He turned to the others.

"But it will be soon."

Daniel swallowed.

"How long?"

Ethan replied softly,

"Not long."

Leonard took a long breath.

"Great. We're officially out of time."

Richard stepped into the room.

He stood beside Ethan.

"We destroy this now."

No doubt.

No long plans.

Only decision.

Daniel moved immediately.

"I can trigger a chain reaction if we overload the system."

Leonard smiled faintly.

"That sounds like a plan I like."

Ethan remained silent for a moment.

He stared at all the small cores.

Dozens of them.

Maybe more.

Each one a threat.

But also part of something bigger.

He took a deep breath.

"Do it."

Daniel did not wait.

His hands moved quickly over the nearest control panel.

The system activated.

Lights flashed.

Data streamed.

Leonard took position at the entrance.

Standing guard.

Richard stood in the middle.

Ready to face whatever emerged.

Ethan stepped back slowly.

Keeping his distance.

But still watching.

One by one.

the small cores began to pulse faster.

The blue light grew brighter.

Vibrations increased.

The air began to tremble.

Daniel shouted,

"Ten seconds!"

Leonard grinned.

"Always the best part."

Richard stared at Ethan.

"We get out."

Ethan nodded.

They retreated together.

Quick steps toward the door.

Vibrations grew stronger.

The light became blinding.

"Five seconds!"

Daniel shouted again.

They reached the corridor.

Turned around.

And.

EXPLOSION.

Blue light filled the room.

A wave of energy burst outward.

But the metal door closed just in time.

Holding back most of the impact.

Vibrations rippled through the entire structure.

But slowly.

faded.

Silence returned.

Daniel panted.

"It… worked."

Leonard let out a long breath.

"For now."

Ethan stood still.

His eyes fixed on the closed door.

He could feel it.

The network.

was not completely gone.

Still there.

Somewhere else.

More of them.

Bigger.

Richard said softly,

"This isn't over."

Ethan nodded.

His gaze sharp.

"This is just the beginning."

And inside him.

something pulsed.

Not just from the core.

But from something that had now become part of him.

Something that would determine.

how all of this would end.
