CHP 36 Prince Yun Zhan and the Annoying Shadow
Early morning in the Gu Clan camp, everyone was busy packing for the journey to Wu Clan… except for Wang San.
He was in the middle of "serious training," which consisted of balancing a meat bun on his head while trying to feed another one to Gu Nie's horse.
Gu Nie: "WHY IS MY HORSE EATING BREAKFAST WITH YOU?!"
San: "Breakfast builds trust. Trust wins wars."
Gu Nie: "…Get away from my horse."
Just then, Yun Zhan walked past, calm and expressionless as usual. San instantly abandoned the horse and ran up to him, walking backward in front of him so he could keep staring at his face.
"Zhan, quick question—if I suddenly faint from hunger right now, will you catch me or just let me hit the ground?"
Zhan didn't even blink. "Fall and find out."
San gasped, dramatically clutching his chest. "Cold. Heartless. And here I was, about to give you this lucky talisman to keep you safe—" he dangled a lopsided paper charm in Zhan's face "—but now I think I'll sell it to buy snacks."
Zhan silently sidestepped him, but San kept following, now humming loudly and deliberately off-key.
"Zhan, you're no fun. I'm going to follow you everywhere until you smile. Even if it takes the entire trip. Even if you run away. Even if—"
Zhan suddenly stopped walking. San bumped into him.
Zhan: "…Then I'll walk faster."
San: "HA! That's not a no."
