Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Rogers' Desire

Marcus Roger was born in 1860 into a world still reeling from the Civil War. By 1865, the conflict had ended, but its aftermath left countless former soldiers disillusioned, wandering without purpose. Among them were Samuel and Natalie Roger, Marcus's parents, who struggled to find their place in a society that no longer had need for men of war.

In 1868, their daughter Elena was born. By then, Samuel and Natalie had turned to a life of crime, putting their skills as veterans to deadly use. Their cunning and ruthlessness earned them a notorious reputation in the underworld—they became known simply as D&L, "Devil & Lilith."

The Contract

In 1875, they were given a lucrative contract by a man named Antony: eliminate all members of a rising gang called the Nemesis Vanguard. The promise was immense—enough money to retire comfortably and secure a future for their children. Samuel and Natalie planned meticulously. The gang would assemble at their main base under the cover of night, and D&L prepared to strike.

The Gunfight: Nemesis Vanguard Base

The night was pitch black, with only the faint glow of lanterns marking the gang's headquarters. Samuel and Natalie, disguised and silent, crept along the perimeter, their boots barely making a sound on the dirt floor. Every heartbeat was measured, every breath controlled. They knew this was their chance to end the Nemesis Vanguard in one precise strike.

Inside, the gang lounged carelessly, unaware of the deadly predators in their midst. Samuel signaled Natalie, and together they approached the leader. In a sudden burst, Samuel fired, his revolver cracking through the silence. The leader slumped, a spray of blood marking the first kill.

Chaos erupted instantly. Men shouted, leaping for cover, their own pistols drawn. Natalie fired with deadly accuracy, taking down two gang members before they could react. The air was thick with gunpowder smoke, stinging eyes and churning lungs. Bullets tore through walls, shattered tables, and ricocheted dangerously close.

Samuel ducked behind a wooden crate as a hail of shots tore through the space he had just vacated. He returned fire, picking off another gang member who had advanced too close. Natalie, moving with catlike precision, vaulted over a table and discharged her revolver, sending another man sprawling to the floor.

Despite their injuries, they fought with relentless determination. Samuel's arm was bleeding, but he gritted his teeth, pulling the trigger again and again. Natalie's chest burned from a graze, but she didn't falter, her focus locked on survival and the mission.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Antony stepped out from the shadows. Calm, calculated, and deadly. His gun was steady. Without hesitation, he shot Samuel at point-blank range. The sound was deafening in the enclosed space, and in that instant, Samuel's life ended.

Natalie's eyes widened, fury and shock colliding. She turned to Antony, revolver raised, but before she could act, he fired again, striking her squarely in the chest. Pain seared through her body, and she stumbled, blood soaking her clothes. Antony's figure melted into the darkness, leaving chaos behind.

The remaining gang members were either dead or incapacitated. Silence fell, broken only by the ragged breathing of Natalie, who, despite her wounds, summoned every ounce of strength to flee the scene. She crawled through the debris, her mind focused on one thing: her children.

A Legacy of Revenge

As Marcus and Elena grew, they were raised with the knowledge of their parents' betrayal and their mother's survival against impossible odds. They learned the lessons of strategy, precision, and vengeance. And they swore—one day, when the moment was right—they would reclaim their family's honor. They would rise, not just as outlaws, but as legends of the underworld.

Marcus and Elena were born with a single desire etched into their hearts: revenge. A desire to become the greatest outlaws the world had ever known.
