Brittney's POV
I looked at all the dishes I made and it made my heart melt in a certain way. Feeding people has always been a thing of joy to me, till I opened my restaurant. I thought about how hard it was raising Daniella and Victoria. My heart smiled with satisfaction, seeing how far I've come.
I picked up my phone, it was 1:17. Daniella is probably on lunch break.
"Daniella, how're you?. I'm coming to your office today to bring you food". I said after dialing her number and she picked up.
"Oh hi mum, I won't be in the office. I have a job outside my office today" she replied in a calm manner which left me a bit unsettled
"Oh okay, I'll pick another date," I said. "Have a nice day today"
"You too mummy, love you" she said, hanging up without waiting for an answer.
This is weird and unlike her, she never turns down a visit, she's always eager to talk to me. I thought she might just be busy and decided to go see my in-laws.
The ride there was stressful, I've never visited them. All I had was an address and a phone number. I found my way there myself. I got to a house that perfectly matches the address Daniella had given me a while ago.
I stood in front of the house and admired it, it was beautiful and homey. Beautiful flowers all over the place and a big black gate that stood tall before me. I looked down at the food I was carrying and smiled to myself.
"They always love whatever I give to them, I hope they'll love this too".
I fixed my hair and rang the doorbell, ready to meet them.
Bella came outside and was shocked to see me, I tried to hug her but there was disgust written all over her face. My chest tightened and my face became pale, I didn't expect to be greeted this way.
"I was less busy today, so I decided to come visit. I brought you food too".
She looked at me with an unpleasant look.
"Please don't visit us anymore," she said.
My hands trembled, "did I do something wrong?" I asked.
"No, you didn't. But leave us alone" she said.
Constance came out of the house, she immediately stood behind her mom as soon as she saw me, I was devastated. Nobody was telling me anything and I was starting to regret coming.
"Constance, I brought you food. You love the lasagna I sent the last time, I made it again". I said, turning to her.
She reached to take the bag from me but her mom stopped her halfway, leaving my hands hanging in the air.
They turned to leave me, but I grabbed a hold of Bella's hand. She shoved me away and I fell, spilling food all over me.
"Do you really want to know? My son and your daughter got divorced, there is absolutely no need for you to visit us anymore" Bella said in a cold tone that made me question my existence at that moment.
They left me out there, I stood up, started wiping my clothes and picking up the food from the floor. A car stopped in front of me and a young man got out. He helped me clean up and offered me a ride. I accepted wholeheartedly.
The ride was quiet, he barely said anything as he dropped me off at the train station. I thanked him and left.
When I got to the ticket booth, my wallet was missing. I searched around me and traced my steps back to where the kind man had dropped me. I couldn't find it.
I broke down completely.
"Why me?" I asked myself as I cried out.
My phone rang and this jolted me back.
"Hello? Who's this?"
"It's me" the voice said, calm but man
