"Siqi, why are you crying?"

"Jiang Qin changed. He would never treat me like this before. I told him not to leave, but he left anyway. He did it just to make me mad!"

Chu Siqi bit her lip. Her chest heaved with every breath. The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt.

She had always been a princess. Her parents spoiled her. Her teachers favored her. Everyone revolved around her. But just now, she saw a flicker of annoyance in Jiang Qin's eyes. It hurt.

'I am a very kind girl,' Chu Siqi thought.

Even when she rejected Jiang Qin, she did not cut him off completely. She encouraged him to keep trying. She gave him warmth and hope.

What about him?

He showed no gratitude. He looked at her with disgust. Was he not going too far? He used to chat with her every day. A simple "Oh" from her made him happy. Now she was taking the initiative to talk, and he was still not satisfied!

"Huiru, I rejected him, but he just stopped chasing me. Is that not over the line? I clearly gave him hope!"

"Well..."

Wang Huiru did not know how to answer.

Logically, if a guy gets rejected after a confession, stopping the pursuit is a normal reaction. But Chu Siqi kept talking about hope. What did that even mean?

"Do you actually like Jiang Qin? Are you just testing his resolve? Were you going to say yes if he persisted a bit longer?"

Chu Siqi interrupted her immediately. "That is impossible. I admit I have some good feelings for him, but it has not reached that level. At the very least, he needs to chase me for a lot longer!"

Wang Huiru was silent for a long time. "How much longer is a lot longer?"

"I do not know. But he must show me his maximum sincerity. I will only consider it when my heart is racing like crazy."

"Siqi, it is fine to make him persist. But have you thought about what happens if you meet someone you like more later?"

"I would obviously choose the person I like more."

"Then what about Jiang Qin?"

Chu Siqi thought for a while. "Then we were just not meant to be. You cannot blame me for that."

Wang Huiru felt a chill run down her spine. 'If that day actually comes, Jiang Qin will be so pitiful. He persists for so long, only to see you with someone else.'

"What else can I do? I cannot give up on someone I love just because he persisted for a long time."

Wang Huiru's mind was a mess. Chu Siqi's words sounded okay on the surface, but the more she thought about them, the bigger the problem became. This was just wasting someone's life.

But they were best friends. She could not take Jiang Qin's side. She had to stand with her friend.

"Do not worry, Siqi. I think Jiang Qin is just faking it."

"Faking it?"

"He was rejected, so he is feeling lost. He feels like he lost face. He is pretending to be cold. I bet he will come back to you in a few days."

Chu Siqi stopped crying. Her pride returned. "Even if he really regrets it, I will definitely not give him another chance!"

Wang Huiru nodded vigorously. "Right. You must not give him a chance!"

"So when will he regret it?"

"Do you really want to see him regret it?" Wang Huiru asked.

Chu Siqi thought about it and nodded seriously. She felt Jiang Qin was too wicked. He played with her feelings and her self-esteem. Only if he regretted it and came crawling back—only for her to reject him harshly—would she feel better.

Wang Huiru sighed. She did not know what to say.

She thought it would be better if Jiang Qin never looked back. It was best to retreat now before things got messy.

But she did not know the truth. Jiang Qin had already seen the ending. He had seen his youthful affection thrown away like trash. That was why he had zero feelings for Chu Siqi.

Love is like that. It follows no logic.

You can love someone for years, being obedient and careful, and never even hold her hand. Then someone else appears. With a few sweet words, they win all her affection.

Try to argue with love?

Love will just slap you in the face.

Meanwhile, Jiang Qin returned to the neighborhood. He parked his bike and walked to the garden. He sat on a stone bench and began to think.

His thoughts had nothing to do with Chu Siqi. He did not care about her at all. He was thinking about his first pot of gold.

Summer vacation was not too long, but it was not short either. Logically, he could take things slow. There was no need to panic. However, starting a business was a matter of sooner rather than later. The problem of the first pot of gold was urgent. He had to find every possibility.

After considering everything, he felt it might be easier to ask his parents. He went upstairs and found Yuan Youqin. She was enjoying her weekend.

"Mom, how much savings do we have? Can you lend me some? A few tens of thousands is fine. A hundred thousand would be better."

Yuan Youqin reached under the table. She handed him two Mahjong tiles. One was an Eight of Myriads and the other was a Nine of Myriads.

"Spend it wisely."

Jiang Qin's mouth twitched. "Mom, you cannot even give me two Nines?"

"Get out of here. Since when do we have savings? A hundred thousand? You are not even worth that much if I sold you."

Jiang Zhenghong looked up at Jiang Qin. He looked like he wanted to say something. His breathing grew a bit heavy.

Jiang Qin's eyes lit up.

As they say, the ginger gets spicier as it ages. Looking at his father's expression, the man definitely had a secret stash. He was probably debating whether to lend it to him.

"Dad, do you have something to say to me?"

"Forget it. It is nothing. Go play."

"It is fine, Dad. Stop pretending. Show your hand. I am ready."

"Well... Son, can you pour me a cup of tea?"

"...."

Three minutes later, Jiang Qin returned to his room after pouring the tea. He felt like a zombie.

'I was blinded by greed to have hope in my old man.'

Jiang Zhenghong was a famous henpecked husband. If his secret stash exceeded five yuan, he would be too nervous to sleep. How could he lend tens of thousands?

Big business was out of the question for now. He had to start small. Small money was still money. Many small amounts would eventually add up. Starting was always the hardest part. Relying on others was unrealistic.

Borrowing money?

Everyone around him was a high school student. If they had five yuan in their pocket, it was a miracle. He could not borrow much.

A loan?

He could consider it, but the procedures were too complicated. In his past life, he was suffocated by mortgage debt. He had a natural resistance to loans.

Jiang Qin took off his clothes and got into bed. He planned to get some sleep first. Tomorrow, he would look for business opportunities elsewhere. At the very least, he had to double the seven hundred yuan in his hand.

Rebirth and entrepreneurship. It sounded easy, but it was not simple at all.
