Chapter 24 - A New Epic-Grade Ingredient—Right in His Hands

Dead trees were blanketed in thick, white snow.

As Ma Jun stepped on the ground, it let out crisp crunching sounds.

"Master, where are we going?"

Daniela asked curiously.

"This doesn't seem like the way to catch fish," she added.

She found it strange. Just that morning, Ma Jun had said they would continue catching that kind of fish that tasted especially good when eaten hot.

But the path they were taking now headed in the opposite direction from the hidden pond near the Moro Reservoir.

Ma Jun smiled faintly. "You'll know soon enough."

Originally, he had planned to continue farming Charcoal-Grilled Dragon Fish, but after obtaining the heavy hammer, he changed his mind.

His Constitution was currently 6 points, yet equipping that weapon required 8.

Those extra 2 points—normally, an ordinary person could only make them up through leveling and stat allocation.

But Ma Jun was different.

He remembered that within the village, there was still a certain special ingredient hidden away.

The effect of that ingredient might very well be related to Constitution.

Following the route in his memory, he led Daniela and Cassandra swiftly through the village.

After gaining 5 points of Agility, his speed was on a completely different level compared to before.

Even the footprints he left in the snow were much shallower.

"An abandoned house at the village entrance, then turn left."

"Ahead, there should be a dense patch of grass."

Everything before them perfectly matched what Ma Jun remembered.

Even the monsters that suddenly lunged out of the grass were exactly the same.

These creatures crawled on all fours, roughly the size of large dogs, with grotesque appearances that made one uncomfortable just looking at them.

They were all species that had been infected by Envy Spores and then failed to evolve—mindless beings that acted purely on instinct.

Their combat strength was far inferior to the werewolves.

Even ordinary people, as long as they had weapons, could easily kill them.

Let alone Ma Jun.

It was as if he had foreseen their ambush routes. The moment the monsters leapt out of the grass, they were casually knocked flying by him.

Cassandra's lips parted slightly.

"Master… can you see through hidden attacks?"

She was deeply shocked.

Daniela puffed out her small chest proudly and said, "There's nothing Master can't do!"

Cassandra's admiration only deepened.

How could someone like this not inspire absolute loyalty?

After dealing with the monsters and passing through the grass, a low, dilapidated house appeared before them.

From the outside, it looked no different from the other ruined buildings around it—

Except for the blue cloth hanging by the broken window.

The moment Ma Jun saw it, his eyes lit up.

This was it.

He was absolutely certain he had found his target.

"Let's go. We're going in."

He stepped straight into the house.

The interior was in terrible condition—there wasn't even a door. Thick layers of dust covered the floor, showing that no one had lived here for a long time.

"Master, what are you looking for here?"

Daniela asked, her curiosity fully piqued.

"Come here. Look at this."

Pushing aside the rotting furniture blocking the way, Ma Jun revealed a hidden window.

Through it, they could see the backyard.

The yard wasn't large—just a few dozen square meters.

Daniela and Cassandra hurried over. After taking one look, they both cried out in shock.

"How could there be—?!"

"How could this be here?!"

In that small backyard, there was actually a pig, leisurely wandering around in circles.

The two maids were utterly stunned.

In this village… there was still a living animal?

Those werewolves with incredibly sharp senses—how had they allowed a pig to survive safely here?

They couldn't understand it at all.

Yet this only made Ma Jun seem even more mysterious and powerful in their eyes.

He was simply too incredible.

"Go. Kill the pig," Ma Jun said calmly.

"We'll have roast pork for lunch."

A mini-boss from a hard-mode dungeon was being treated like a household errand.

The two maids didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

Serving their master—wasn't that only natural?

They had already done far more embarrassing things. Killing a pig was nothing.

The pig's blood was thick.

If an ordinary person tried to deal with it, they'd probably need to waste quite a bit of ammunition.

But before the two maids' daggers, it took only a few strikes.

Once dead, the pig automatically transformed into a large slab of pork.

Such a miraculous scene made the girls click their tongues in amazement.

Ma Jun picked up the pork and checked its attributes

[Premium Fragrant Pork]

Quality: Epic

Type: Cooking Ingredient (can be prepared into dishes)

Joy surged through his heart.

As expected—he hadn't been wrong. This was exactly it.

"Start a fire."

The maids quickly set up a fire pit.

Ma Jun took out the seasonings he had prepared in advance, skewered the pork, and placed it over the fire to roast slowly.

As he turned it, the fat began to sizzle and drip, producing a mouthwatering crackling sound.

A rich aroma soon spread through the air.

The smell was incredibly domineering—far more tempting than when he'd cooked Charcoal-Grilled Dragon Fish before.

The two little maids had already completely lost their composure.
