Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: By Any Means Necessary

"Oh, that's right."

Marcel seemed to recall something, and with a surprised expression, he said to Ender, "If I'm not mistaken, your father is Derrick Royce, the academy's 'legendary figure' from twenty years ago."

Hearing this, Ender was puzzled, "My father is a legendary figure of the academy?"

From his birth until now, he had never heard his father mention anything about Morning Light Academy.

Noticing the fluctuation in Ender's expression, Marcel knew he had guessed correctly; he wasn't aware of his father's experiences at the academy.

Marcel chuckled softly, "Heh heh, your father is Morning Light Academy's infamous dropout!"

"Dropout?"

Ender's expression remained unchanged, but his intuition told him this wasn't a good title.

"I suppose you haven't heard this title!"

Marcel said with a smile, "Because your father is the only person in the last hundred years to be forcibly expelled from Morning Light Academy!

"So, a dropout that only appears once in a hundred years! Very rare!"

Ender's eyes widened slightly, his expression cold, and he was furious internally, "This guy!"

Having lived in this world for Fourteen years, he had integrated into it, and he regarded his parents as his biological parents.

How could he not be furious when an enemy insulted his father to his face!

"Eleven! Let's go!"

Ivan tilted his head, winking at Ender behind him, urging him to calm down.

Ender understood, his expression composed, suppressing his anger, and turned to walk towards the test waiting area.

In the waiting area, though the number of people was small, there were still a few Stellar Rank powerhouses.

"Heh! Marcel, that guy has no shame, personally dealing with an Apprentice-level kid!"

A Stellar Rank powerhouse said softly, his words filled with disdain for Marcel.

Another Planetary Level powerhouse shook his head, "Indeed! He has no shame!"

The few Stellar Rank powerhouses watching the show in the waiting area all felt ashamed of Marcel's behavior!

Upon reaching the waiting area, Ender finally couldn't help but ask, "Third Uncle! Was my father really expelled by a Morning Light Academy powerhouse?"

"It's true," Ivan sighed, "At that time, Old Seven was young and hot-headed. In a conflict, he severely injured another student and refused to admit his mistake, so he was forcibly expelled by Morning Light Academy.

"Being forcibly expelled by Morning Light Academy is not something glorious, so no one ever mentioned it.

"That Marcel guy is deliberately provoking you. You need to stay calm and not let anger cloud your judgment."

"I understand."

Ender nodded, indicating that he knew Marcel was trying to provoke him.

At the same time, he also understood why his father had never mentioned his life at Morning Light Academy.

However, there were still unresolved questions in his heart: what was the full story behind that incident?

As time passed, one candidate after another entered and exited the test room.

Logically, as more candidates took the test, the number of people in the waiting area should decrease, but the reality was that the number of people in the waiting area did not decrease; instead, it grew with time.

Some familiar Stellar Rank powerhouses sat together in twos and threes, and surrounding them were several times the number of candidates who had come to take the academy test.

This formed small circles with the Stellar Rank powerhouses at the center and the academy test candidates on the outside.

"Next up is that kid from the Royce Family," a Stellar Rank powerhouse who was observing the flow of people said.

"Heh, this good show is finally beginning," another Stellar Rank powerhouse laughed.

"According to the time that kid took the previous test, he was granted special approval to enter Morning Light Academy, but for some unknown reason, Marcel rejected him."

"That kid can slay a Planetary Level Demon Beast and was granted special approval to enter Morning Light Academy, so his psychic amplitude naturally won't be low. It's just unknown how many levels of the Trial Tower he can clear."

The Stellar Rank powerhouse who spoke first gloated, "Heh heh, if that kid achieves good results in the Trial Tower, Marcel is probably finished."

The other person replied, "That's why Marcel has no shame and is personally targeting that kid; he wants to try and make amends."

"Haha, who told him to seek death?"

"If it were before, it wouldn't be a big deal if he played some tricks, but now, at this critical juncture, he still dares to do this! If this isn't seeking death, what is?"

"Indeed, the new governor is about to arrive, and with the Joint Training Camp incident not long ago, our lives in the future will probably not be easy..."

Amidst the discussions of the Stellar Rank powerhouses and the candidates who came to take the academy test, it was finally Ender's turn to enter the test room.

At this moment, Marcel also moved, walking towards the test room.

a Stellar Rank powerhouse said in surprise, "Ho! Marcel intends to preside over that kid's Trial Tower assessment."

"As the chief examiner, presiding over the Trial Tower assessment is within his authority."

Another person said, "However, with Virtual Universe synchronized transmission, he can't tamper with it. At most, he can mess with that kid's mindset."

"Mindset is also very important. If there's a problem with his mindset, that kid's score will drop significantly."

"We can only wait for the results outside. I hope that kid won't be affected."

Amidst the discussions of the Stellar Rank powerhouses, Ender and Marcel entered the test room one after another.

Upon entering the test room, Marcel said to the female examiner who was previously in charge of the test, "I'll take over now. You can go rest for a bit."

The female examiner nodded, "Yes, Chief Examiner Marcel."

Before leaving, she took a careful look at Ender, very curious about this kid with a 23-times psychic amplitude, who actually had two chief examiners preside over his test one after another.

After the female examiner left, Marcel looked at Ender with a smile, "Since I was the one who called you back, I will preside over your Trial Tower assessment."

Ender's eyes narrowed slightly, and the anger that had somewhat subsided reignited, "Then I thank Chief Examiner Marcel."

"No need, you just need to perform well." Marcel shook his head as he spoke, "After all, your father's combat talent was truly... tsk tsk!

"I hope you don't inherit your father's talent in combat, otherwise the academy will definitely lose a talented student and gain another dropout!"

"This guy is truly infuriating!"

Ender's anger intensified slightly, but he understood that the other party was trying to provoke him, intending to disrupt his mindset and thus affect his Trial Tower assessment score.

"Don't fall for it! Calm down! I must be calm!"

Taking a deep breath, he forcibly suppressed his anger, walked to the chair connected to the Virtual Universe and sat down, asking, "Chief Examiner Marcel, when can the Trial Tower assessment begin?"

"It can begin immediately."

Marcel smiled, "Don't be angry, I'm just giving you a kind reminder, lest you repeat the same mistakes."

"Please begin the assessment!" Ender said through clenched teeth.

Although Ender's expression had changed significantly, Marcel felt that his goal had not yet been achieved.

However, he could no longer delay, so he reluctantly announced, "Trial Tower assessment begins!"

After speaking, he pressed the button to start the Trial Tower assessment, and the space began to change...
