Chapter 50 - Chapter 50

  Chapter 50 Ha, Mortals!

"If my father is plotting revenge, will he be in danger?"

Skye still wanted to find them, but Finney clearly didn't want her to investigate now. An evil organization that could project consciousness into a computer was no simple matter.

"Don't worry, so many years have passed. He's not that impulsive. He won't act so irrationally until he finds you or has a sure chance of victory."

Finney continued, "So if you go to them now, it will only make things more complicated. Most importantly, there's no solution right now. It's better to maintain this situation for now."

Skye remained silent. So many years had passed, and she hadn't seen her biological parents. It was impossible for them to be close. Originally, she only wanted answers from them.

When she learned from Finney that they had their reasons for abandoning her, she wanted to see them and tell them that she had actually been doing quite well all these years.

She never imagined things would be so complicated.

Finney sighed softly. He didn't know if telling Skye the truth was the right thing to do, but Skye had a stubborn streak in her character. If she didn't find the truth, she would definitely continue investigating.

If she accidentally uncovered anything about Hydra, the trouble would be immense.

"When can I go find them?"

Skye finally trusted Finney. Years of getting along had built mutual trust, and she firmly believed Finney wouldn't harm her.

"Wait a little longer, it won't be too long,"

Finney said thoughtfully. With Captain America's resurrection, Hydra wouldn't be exposed for long, and even without Captain America, there was still him. They could take the opportunity to win over Skye's father, who was seeking revenge.

As for her mother, if the Mind Scepter didn't work, they could try the 'Golden Great Evolution Technique,' and if all else failed, there was Hydra's brainwashing method.

  "Hmm,"

Skye nodded dejectedly, feeling a sudden emptiness in her heart. Since graduating, she hadn't worked, focusing instead on studying computer technology. Partly because Finney was there, ensuring she didn't have to worry about making a living, and partly because she wanted to resolve the issue of her origins.

Now that she knew the truth, she felt lost, especially considering her parents' situation. How could she help them return to normal?

As if sensing Skye's thoughts, Finney reached out and patted her head, softly saying, "Don't worry, I've got everything covered. Just keep being yourself."

  "Thank you, Finney!"

Skye was deeply moved. She felt the luckiest thing in her life was coming to this family and meeting Finney.

  And it was indeed true!

Without Finney's Golden Evolution Technique, Skye's life would never have been as peaceful, happy, and fulfilling as it was now.

The two chatted for a while longer before Finney sent Skye to rest. In his room, he silently pondered how to obtain the important 'obelisk' from S.H.I.E.L.D.

And that wasn't all; it seemed a ritual needed to be performed somewhere.

Finney scratched his head in frustration. He couldn't remember where the ritual was, but thankfully he had a compass; he should be able to find the place with it.

Given Skye's importance to him, and his wholehearted desire to take her to the place where her powers awaken, the Compass should be able to do it.

  "Should we contact them?"

Finney pondered silently. At this point, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra were practically inseparable; at most, Hydra knew that a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. was also Hydra, while S.H.I.E.L.D. members only knew they were S.H.I.E.L.D.

After much deliberation, Finney still hadn't made a decision. He hadn't intended to remain completely detached from S.H.I.E.L.D., but right now he wasn't confident he could protect himself safely under this behemoth.

The next morning, Skye was still somewhat downcast. The conversation from the previous night wasn't something she could easily let go of, and Finney couldn't do anything about it but let her recover slowly.

The issues with the Hulk and Abomination remained unresolved, and Finney was extremely busy. Even during school classes, he was secretly researching spirit magic. After all, once this magic was successful, ordinary people wouldn't be able to see the soul or detect anything amiss.

In the blink of an eye, February arrived.

Finney's progress was still at the level of having some understanding, but it was completely useless. Compared with Kasirius, who had only been there for a short time and had already begun to show his talent, he became increasingly frustrated.

  Kamar-Taj.

"Kasirius is truly talented, Finney. At this rate, it won't be long before he surpasses you."

Mordo began his usual praise, completely oblivious to Finney's increasingly dark expression.

"Hmph, what's so great about him? That's just because I haven't shown my true abilities yet,"

Finney retorted stubbornly. While he wasn't particularly skilled in Kamar-Taj magic, he wasn't lacking in other 'magic,' such as 'Violet Chicken Wrap' and 'Golden Grand Magic.'

"You should have a realistic view of yourself, Finney!"

But Mordo clearly didn't think so.

"Fine, a month's worth of chicken wraps, or his talent? Which do you choose?"

Finney glanced at Mordo expressionlessly, accepting his place. Yes, as the owner, why should he reason with the creature he was raising?

  "..."

Mordo's face stiffened. Although he wanted to resist with some backbone, he ultimately couldn't resist the temptation of words.

  "Your talent isn't bad either!"

Mordo lowered his proud head, betraying his conscience for the sake of that one-of-a-kind 'Violet Chicken Wrap'.

  Ha, mortals!

Finney, with his head held high, curled his lip in disdain, watching Kasirius diligently training in the training ground, still feeling somewhat annoyed.

Just then, Tony called. Since the Iron Monger incident, Tony hadn't hidden his number anymore, perhaps feeling there was no need.

  "Hello!"

Finney answered the phone angrily, and sure enough, Pepper's sweet voice came through.

"Hello, Finney, it's me, Pepper. Do you have time? Tony needs your help with something."

  "No, no, don't talk nonsense."

Finney vaguely heard Tony's three consecutive denials, and immediately became surprised: "This guy actually needs my help? Wait a moment."

With that, he hung up the phone, not wanting to hear Tony's rebuttal.

Just as he expected, Tony grabbed the phone, ready to retort, only to find the call had already ended, leaving him with a bellyful of anger and nowhere to vent.

  "I have to go!"

Finney said goodbye to Mordo, then returned to his room and opened a portal to Tony's house. After being here a few times, he knew this place almost like his own home.

"Let me clarify, Pepper's account is incorrect. I don't need anything from you."

As soon as he stepped out of the portal, Tony's arrogant and infuriating voice rang out.

  "So I'm going back now!?"

Finney raised an eyebrow, glanced at the still-open portal, and looked ready to leave. He wasn't going to indulge Tony just because of money.

If it weren't for his sense of responsibility and his desire to avoid seeing Kasilios in Kamar-Taj, he wouldn't have come.

"Although I don't need to ask you for anything, there are some things I'd like to discuss with you."

Tony seemed genuinely concerned, and said reluctantly. If it were just a minor matter, Tony certainly wouldn't have given in so easily; at the very least, Pepper would have persuaded him to stay.

Sigh, Iron Man is a crucial character throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it's inevitable that my plot would involve him. Perhaps my writing style has led to some misunderstandings. He's slightly more important in the early stages, but it's just foreshadowing, not flattery. Regarding the fifth skill, there are only a few chapters left, and the hint is still "red eyes"—ugh, this hint is too obvious! So please vote and give a reward!
