Chapter 212 - Chapter 215

Chapter 215 Childhood Sweetheart Defeated by Unexpected Girlfriend

Seeing this scene, Sif was also very embarrassed and hurriedly explained, "Since the chaos in the Nine Realms, we've rarely held banquets, so they might be a little excited."

  "Hehe!"

Finney maintained a polite but awkward smile.

The banquet started inexplicably. Finney felt that this wasn't a welcome party for him at all; it was just the Asgardians wanting to have a revelry.

Then Sif introduced him to several of Thor's close friends. After a few words, they suddenly started drinking. One drink after another, people kept coming up to toast him.

Finney wasn't a big drinker, but in this kind of situation, not drinking was obviously admitting defeat.

Although he wasn't concerned about saving face, he was representing Kamar-Taj this time, and if he lost, Kamar-Taj would lose, so Finney forced himself to drink.

But looking at the beer bellies that the other person's belly couldn't even compare to after ten months of pregnancy, he couldn't help but swallow hard and began to think of a way to cheat.

Because Asgard possesses its own set of rules and powers, the 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique' still couldn't exert its full effect. However, fortunately, most of this power was concentrated on Odin, making it much weaker than the suppression from the Temple. Therefore, its effect was still significantly stronger than on Earth.

Phineas held his breath, activated his 'Breathing Technique,' and used the 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique' in his mind, causing the wine in the cup to turn into water the moment it entered his mouth.

In this way, by cheating, Phineas calmly drank cup after cup, knocking out a large group of people.

It wasn't that no one suspected Phineas of cheating, but no one could figure out how he did it, since the wine only turned into water the moment it entered his mouth.

Checking the wine in the cup was one thing, but who would dare pry open Phineas's mouth to see what was inside?!

  So, an hour later.

  "I...I can...still...drink!"

Seeing the burly man slumped under the table, unable to even lift his cup, muttering about his drinking prowess, Finney glanced around. Those nearby involuntarily took a step back in fear.

Seeing this, Finney grinned, patted his round belly, and arrogantly asked, "Nobody here?"

The Asgardians looked at each other, none daring to step forward. This was the third time Finney had provoked them; the previous two groups were already on the ground and hadn't gotten up yet.

  "Clap!"

  "Clap clap!"

  "Clap clap clap!"

The surrounding crowd spontaneously began to applaud, looking at Finney with admiration. Asgardians valued results; regardless of what methods Finney used, his ability to outdrink so many people deserved their respect.

By this time, Sif and her companions, who had initially challenged Phineas to a drinking contest, had recovered somewhat. Seeing this, they came to Phineas's side and couldn't help but praise,

"Hey, friend, you're the first person in Asgard to ever outdrink the Warriors Three at the same time!"

The speaker was Volstagg, a tall man with a long beard, resembling a small giant, definitely among the tallest Asgardians.

He was also the fattest, with the biggest belly, and the most capable drinker among those who challenged Phineas.

"Actually, I'm sorry, I used some tricks. In terms of actual drinking, I probably still can't beat you guys,"

Phineas admitted, a little embarrassed by Volstagg's words. After all, it was unusual for him to have drunk so much without any change.

  "Hahaha!"

Hearing Finney's words, the group burst into laughter, seemingly finding him even more agreeable. Then, Hogan, who had a pineapple-shaped haircut beside him, said, "Whatever method you used, it's your own skill."

  "Alright!"

Finney shrugged. Since they didn't care, why should he be bothered? However, he couldn't help but feel a bit more favorably disposed towards their personalities.

"But I'm still quite curious about what method you used?"

With blond hair and a mustache, Fandral, looking somewhat roguish, asked curiously, then leaned closer to examine Phine's cup to confirm it indeed contained alcohol.

  "A magical trick!"

Phine smiled slightly, offering no further explanation, and downed the drink in one gulp. As for the taste, Asgardian liquor, though not very strong, was quite delicious.

"Alright, looks like you're indeed a very powerful mage!"

  Fandral shrugged, not pressing further.

Volstagg, however, waved his short, thick arms, his voice booming with dissatisfaction, "We three warriors are even better at martial arts than drinking! Let's have a fight sometime!"

"Sure, my combat magic is far superior to my drinking skills! Let's spar sometime!"

Phine readily agreed. The title of battle mage in Kamar-Taj wasn't given lightly, and he also looked forward to how much experience the Asgardian dungeon would provide.

Drinking is indeed the easiest way for men to improve their relationships. After the banquet, Finney felt his relationships with the others had improved considerably, and couldn't help but ask a rather curious question: "By the way, why didn't you guys go with Thor?"

Hearing Finney's question, the three of them involuntarily glanced at Sif, which made Finney a little puzzled.

Sif obviously noticed their gazes, and after a fleeting moment of awkwardness, she frankly replied, "Maybe he's avoiding me!"

Finney immediately understood; in short, it was a love-hate entanglement about a childhood sweetheart being defeated by a new girlfriend.

  "Ahem."

Finney coughed awkwardly, then changed the subject, saying, "Tell me about King Odin; I've always been curious about his deeds."

The others didn't want to dwell on that topic and began eagerly recounting Odin's exploits to Finney.

However, after listening to their accounts, Finney felt that these histories were likely embellished; at least he hadn't heard a single thing about Hela.

The banquet continued, and everyone began drinking again. Fandral and his companions, who had been relatively sober initially, got drunk again in the next drinking contest, this time completely intoxicated, collapsing in some unknown corner waiting to be discovered.

Only Sif fared better, slowly drinking with a preoccupied expression, and surprisingly, didn't get drunk in the end.

Although the banquet had been somewhat absurd, Finney was still satisfied; at least he had earned the respect of the Asgardians during this event.

As the banquet ended, Finney prepared to go back to rest. He hadn't cheated with the 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique' during the second round of drinking, so he was now somewhat tipsy.

But just as he was about to leave, Sif stopped him, asking hesitantly, "Do you know Thor's girlfriend?"

Finney was taken aback, looking at Sif's complicated expression, and shook his head, replying, "I know who she is, but I've never seen her."

  "Alright!"

Sif had hoped to learn about Jane from Finney, and was somewhat disappointed by this answer.

"Actually, you don't need to care about her so much,"

Finney said, looking at Sif. "The normal lifespan of Earthlings is only a hundred years. There's a high chance they won't be together. Besides, you could outlive her!"

  "..."

Sif looked at Finney speechlessly. Although he knew Finney meant well, it still felt a little awkward.
