Chapter 77 - Chapter 77 Daylight Reckoning

Nora's POV

"This makes absolutely no sense," I mutter to my familiars, staring at the stubborn kitchen window. "Why won't this one cooperate?"

I set down the bowl of smoldering herbs, frustration building in my chest. Every other window in the house has been successfully enchanted to filter out harmful sunlight. But this kitchen window refuses to comply. Each time I cast the spell, the protective black smoke covers the glass only to vanish moments later. I've attempted it three times this morning, desperate to give James freedom to move throughout the house instead of being trapped in my bedroom like a prisoner.

"There's no visible damage anywhere." I climb onto the counter and lean across the sink, examining the glass closely.

My fingers trace along the window frame, searching for any gaps where warm air might seep through from outside. Nothing. The seal appears perfect.
