Nora's POV
"Now I can finally say it." James wipes the blood from my thigh with his tongue, his dark eyes meeting mine. His head rests between my legs, crimson staining his lips.
"Say what?" My voice comes out breathless. We just finished making love, raw and intense like always. Nothing brings two people closer than nearly dying together.
"That I've been touched by an angel." James moves up my body and pulls me against his chest.
"Really?" I laugh softly.
"Absolutely. I've been touched by one, and I've touched one back. Many times over."
"I'm only half angel, remember?"
"Doesn't matter. I'm still saying it." He licks the remaining blood from his lips and nuzzles into my breasts. "I love you, Nora."
"I love you too."
"I thought I'd lost you again." He rolls us over until I'm sprawled across his chest. We shift until we're both comfortable. "I never want to spend a single day of my eternal existence without you."
"Someday you will."
