Nora's POV
Katherine's fingers grip my shoulder with urgent pressure.
The airbags remain deflated, but the sickening thud of impact still echoes in my ears.
Sharp pain shoots through my neck from the sudden stop, yet I'm otherwise unharmed.
The problem is what I collided with. Something tall, bronzed, and disturbingly humanoid.
"Yeah, I'm fine. You?" I fumble to shift the Jeep into park.
"Same here. But what the hell was that?" Katherine's eyes stretch wide with alarm. "Sweet Jesus, it's coming back!"
My gaze snaps upward just as a scrapper demon charges toward us. Blood streams down its skull, and those sickening yellow fangs glisten in the headlights.
"Not tonight, you bastard!" Katherine braces against her seat as the creature slams into her door with bone-jarring force.
