Nora's POV
"Look how much you've grown since I last saw you!" I whisper softly, lifting Elodie into my arms. The sun has just disappeared behind the horizon as James and I step through Lena's front door. She's technically on-call tonight but still managed to greet us with a warm smile. Watching her step back and invite us inside eases some of the tension coiled tight in my chest.
If Brent hadn't mentioned the spell might be incomplete, I wouldn't feel this crushing anxiety. My magic has never failed me before, but then again, I've never bothered checking how long my memory modifications actually hold. And I've certainly never attempted to cover up something this massive.
