Nora's POV
Phoenix freezes mid-stride, and his companion crashes straight into his back.
"Dude, what's your problem?" The guy glances up from his phone screen. I remember him from that disastrous party where I spiked everyone's champagne with truth serum, though his name escapes me. His gaze shifts from Phoenix to me, then back again. "Wait, isn't that your sister?" He tilts his head, studying me with obvious curiosity.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Phoenix's voice comes out as a sharp whisper, his eyes darting nervously around the coffee shop.
"Buying coffee," I reply slowly, raising my cup as evidence. "This is a coffee shop, after all." Brent moves to stand beside me, and Phoenix's attention snaps to him with visible tension. When Phoenix notices Brent also holds coffee and looks distinctly alive, his expression shifts.
