Nora's POV
"I'm only delivering this book," I say to James, the words coming out more for my own reassurance than his. "Meeting Gideon at the halfway point, nothing more." I slide the massive tome back into its protective box, my arms already aching from its weight. The Infernal Dictionary belongs at Harold Gate Academy anyway. Information this valuable needs to be in the hands of witches and warlocks who can actually use it. "Then I'm heading straight back, just like I promised Gideon during our conversation."
Earlier, I'd astral projected directly into the Shadowhaven, materializing in the middle of Gideon's class without warning. The startled gasps and wide-eyed stares from the students never get old, though I'd never admit how much I enjoy their amazement. But the real reason for my visit was urgent. My familiars had discovered something that couldn't wait. Heart-eating demons aren't exactly the kind of problem you put off until tomorrow.
