Nora's POV
The tears blur my vision as I stare down at the photograph in my trembling hands.
"She's absolutely beautiful," I manage, quickly wiping my cheeks before the drops can damage the precious image.
"The resemblance is striking," James murmurs, his voice tender as silk.
"Shane mentioned that too."
I study the photograph with hungry eyes, drinking in every detail I can absorb. Her hair falls in dark waves just past her shoulders, and those emerald eyes mirror my own perfectly. While I'm not her exact duplicate, there's no mistaking the genetic connection between us. She's clearly pregnant in this shot, her belly rounded with what could either be me or a sibling I never knew existed. Even carrying that weight, her smile radiates pure joy.
When this moment was captured, did she already know death was waiting for her? Shane explained how they'd discussed the risks, how my mother's final request was for him to move heaven and earth to keep me breathing and safe.
