Nora's POV
"You've encountered other demons before?" Charlette halts mid-step, her face draining of color. "Perhaps the less I understand, the better."
"Nora," Ophelia's voice carries a tremor of fear. "The white light incinerated the man hosting the demon. At least, I believe it did. The body might have been deceased already. He appeared severely deteriorated." She shakes her head frantically. "We cannot take that risk with Gideon."
"I understand." I sweep my hair away from my face, tucking it behind my ear. "But my white light cannot destroy me. Look." I launch the energy sphere upward, extending my palms beneath it, allowing it to descend back onto my skin. The magic crackles upon contact, producing a sharp sting, yet it fails to burn me. Instead, it dissolves back into my flesh. "My own magic is incapable of harming me."
"Nora, absolutely not!" Ophelia cries out, already comprehending my intentions. "That plan is utterly reckless."
"It could be successful."
