Chapter 39 - Ainz Ooal Gown: Straight To The Scorching Fire.

Sigh...

That was all I could give. It was both a sigh of relief and exhaustion. I made it, I escaped that hellish prison like space. I had grand plans for that place, too. A place of infinite places, it's good for storage or a living space.

It takes some getting used to, but with the right attitude and a good eye for decoration or some magical terraforming. That place is a paradise. However, my plans for it right now are permanently delayed.

I have a big problem in the new world, and that's putting it lightly.

I've always thought that the denizens of Nazarick are a bit unhinged. I mean, they think that the other supreme beings abandoned them, which I don't blame them for thinking that.

However, my friends have their own lives and responsibilities. I didn't have that luxury, that's why I 'stayed' until the end.

They've hit the peak of their 'unhingeness' if that's a word. In short, they've gone batshit crazy since I disappeared for almost a week.

They've turned the whole new world, or at least a huge part of it, into their plaything. They've turned an entire continent into some part of offering to bring me back or to pay for their sins for being inadequate.

A continent of suffering.

I disappeared while having a meeting with the Baharuth Emperor himself, Jircniv. They thought he had something to do with it. They've done terrible things to him and his people, who have done absolutely nothing wrong.

When I came back, Baharuth was already a pile of ash and rubble. There were bodies scattered everywhere, the sight made my stomach churn even if I have no stomach. The amount of death and the scale of it reminded me of my original world.

I guess that's why I was able to get over it after a few seconds. A guardian then teleported in front of me; they must have sensed my essence. It was Albedo.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! MOMONGA-SAMA!"

I didn't even receive a greeting; she just shouted my name. Not Ainz, but Momonga. That cry was relief, horror, grief, and ecstasy at once. I can't quite place it, but she really is starting to creep me out now.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! MOMONGA-SAMA! MOMONGA-SAMA! MOMONGA-SAMA! MOMONGA-SAMA! MOMONGA-SAMA! MOMONGA-SAMA!"

I thought Shalltear was supposed to be the creepy one.

Anyways, she kept repeating Momonga several times over while her form was absolutely wracked by stress and exhaustion. I didn't want to ask what she was doing; she had a lot of blood in her hands. I don't even want to think about it.

I then teleported back to Nazarick and ordered her to gather the guardians and the rest of the denizens. One by one, they filled the room and kowtowed. I tried explaining to them that I was snatched by unseen forces, but my words were drowned out by their cries.

I even did that regal thing that I practiced several times in front of the mirror, telling them to be silent, but that didn't do anything. Albedo was now clinging to my legs. I had to yank her away.

"MOMONGA-SAMA!"

The only ones whose heads seemed to be on their shoulders were Sebas, Cocytus, most of the homunculi maids, and some area guardians.

Albedo was creepy, but Demiurge was a straight-up nightmare. He's done experiments that I didn't even want to hear more. He searched for a way to bring me back. He mainly used the people from the Baharuth Empire as his stock of lab mice.

I explained that the people of Baharuth did nothing. I assured them that what happened to me was not the fault of the people in this new world or the guardian's lack of loyalty. I was merely whisked away; it happens to some people.

It happened to me.

They've accepted my explanations, and then the shouting and crying again. I demanded silence, but no one listens to me. First, I've heard that Jircniv was alive, imprisoned, broken, unresponsive, morphed, and defeated.

I immediately ordered his absolution and told Demiurge to restore him, use spells, even scrolls, just to bring him back. I don't want to know what Demiurge did to him; I only want it to stop since the emperor has no fault.

All of them, I look to the NPCs, they're all literally children. When they've lost my hand in the dark, all they can do is cry and shout. I thought they were better than this, but now, that's just wishful thinking on my part.

The rest of the other countries were just as devastated. Shalltear turned the whole Slane Theocracy into some sort of feeding ground. I saw it via the mirror of remote viewing, and she was, in a way, restrained compared to the other guardians.

She even made some of them worship me instead and spared the lives of some people, though as thralls. She didn't destroy it; she just occupied it. I complimented her lack of restraint, then told her to fix and revert everything.

I told her to go and rectify her mistakes, but she refused. She can't afford to see me vanish, like I'll disappear again once she turns back. It's annoying, but the correction can wait for a day or maybe two.

"MOMONGA-SAMA! I LOVE YOU!"

"Just stop it, Albedo! I am here, and I will never go away again. I swear on the name of -

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! MOMONGA-SAMA!"

This is getting ridiculous and sad. I wish I didn't tamper with her settings.

"It's. Good. To. See. You. Again. Ainz-Sama. I know. You'd. Be. Back." Cocytus, thank you, you're so level-headed and cool.

"Ainz-sama. I made sure to clean your quarters and throne while you were away. It's good to have you back." Sebas spoke up this time, his voice cracked, holding back tears.

Now, the twins were also a handful. They haven't said anything; they just kept crying and crying. Their cries are now shrill; it's painful. I told them to wipe their tears, but they didn't -

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! MOMONGA-SAMA!"

"..." Well, time to ease their fears and correct their mistakes. I am now their father after all. I should assess the damage with "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! MOMONGA-SAMA!".

I'm out.
