(I did some changes to chapter 37. This is post Re-Estize Ainz.)
(Should I rewrite some early chapters? Most of it was kinda not so descriptive and awkward in some places. I was bored and drunk when I wrote this story.)
Mr. Jin Woo Sung assured me that he can handle the woman-knight alone, and I am inclined to believe him. The whole place was littered with his shadow soldiers, who were overwhelming the woman-knight with their coordinated attacks.
A row of magic casters from the back and melee fighters in front. There's even an ogre casting magic. I've always thought that ogres from fantasy settings were melee-centric.
Mr. Sung's army is quite versatile.
The actual number of his shadow army must be in the thousands. Now I understand why that skeleton wizard king ambushed us himself; a battle of attrition was most likely not in their tactical favor.
The more that skeleton king sends his undead army to do his bidding, the stronger Mr. Sung's army gets by usurping the undead army through resurrection.
A necromancer fighting another necromancer. An eternal fight indeed.
The shadow soldiers have killed those invisible insects via sheer overwhelming numbers. Those insects were powerful, but Mr. Sung's army was endless. Mr. Sung wanted to resurrect those things, but their bodies immediately disappeared.
Anyway, the important thing is that the shadows are protecting us. I can focus on the fight ahead, giving it my full attention.
"Triplet Magic: Obsidian Blade!" The skeleton king said, sending three massive black blades forward, but Reinhard easily swatted them away. "Ice Knife!" A knife flew out of the skeleton king's right palm, flying straight at blinding speed, but Reinhard redirected the knife by grabbing it mid-trajectory while doing a spinning move.
The ice knife struck the skeleton king, then wiped its robe.
Mahoraga appeared behind the skeleton king and then delivered a punch, but it was easily parried with a wooden hammer staff.
"Tsk!" So it was paying attention to its surroundings. The skeleton king whacked Mahoraga with the wooden hammer staff, and Mahoraga was sent flying.
Reinhard went after Mahoraga, trying to catch him. A questionable decision coming from him, but whatever. "Hares!" A massive rabbit army shot forward from my shadow.
I was planning to obscure the skeleton king's vision.
"Widen Magic: Fireball!" A colossal wave of fire engulfed all my rabbits, killing thousands with one spell, but when thousands die, another two thousand will replace them. The skeleton king was then encased in the rabbit cage.
"Widen Magic: Iceball!" "Fly!""Freedom!" "Penetrate up!" "Greater Magic Shield." "Greater Resistance." My rabbit-cage was encased in ice. The skeleton king then punched the ice from the inside, shattering it.
The skeleton king then flew away, but Mahoraga intercepted its flight. Reinhard had thrown Mahoraga straight into the skeleton king. They both crash into a grocery shelf.
The skeleton king grabbed Mahoraga. "Boost Magic: Paralysis." Mahoraga limped, like a puppet whose strings had been cut.
The skeleton king then rose and was about to stomp Mahoraga, but Reinhard attracted the skeleton king's attention by throwing a piece of debris straight into its head.
"You foolish human." The skeleton king said, facing Reinhard.
"Maximize Magic: Barrage of Arrows." An enormous barrage of arrows flew straight towards Reinhard, but they changed trajectories for some reason. When Reinhard pointed at the skeleton king, the arrows changed trajectories again.
"Wall of Protection From Arrows." "Projectile Awkwardness." A wide spherical barrier encased the skeleton king; the arrows harmlessly struck the barrier.
"Hold Species!"
Reinhard flinched but charged forward; the skeleton king's spell barely had any effect.
"Dominate!"
The skeleton king chanted, but its face was met with a fast winded up punch from Reinhard that then sent it backward. The spell had no effect.
"Temporal Stasis!" The skeleton king managed to activate some spell while he was sent flying, and Reinhard instantly froze in place. The skeleton king crashed against a wide pillar.
"Shit! Reinhard's incapacitated!" As soon as I said that, Mahoraga leaped forward and tackled the skeleton king. It was fully recovered from that paralysis spell.
"You insolent low-level summon!" The skeleton king shouted as it pulled out that same hammer from before in thin air, then pummeled Mahoraga with it. Mahoraga smiled as it was dragged back a bit, not fully sent away.
Reinhard broke free from the spell's hold.
Reinhard charged forward in a straight line, sending a lot of debris flying, arms extended with clenched. fists.
He was a whole lot faster now, instantly tackling the skeleton king. Reinhard, along with Mahoraga, continuously pounded on the skeleton king, although it was obvious that Reinhard was faster and had more effect.
"Greater Teleportation!""Body of Effulgent Beryl!" The skeleton king vanished from the area, appearing above them, then flew away, heading in a random direction.
"Widen Magic: Slow!" The skeleton king cast as he faced both Reinhard and Mahoraga, who were chasing him. Mahoraga was slowed, but Reinhard leaped straight towards the skeleton king and then grounded him with a single overhead kick.
The skeleton king crashed straight into the floor, cracking it, sending up dust and tile fragments upwards.
"Wait! Stop! Let me breathe! I can't! I absolutely can't! Let me have a single breather!" The skeleton king shouted, pleading for its life. It's a trick! It has to be!
"It's buying time!" I shouted as loud as I could. The skeleton king noticed me, then quickly rose and pointed at me.
"I demand silence! You worthless pile of s-!" A deafening boom shot everywhere. The skeleton king was punched in four different places on his skull.
Reinhard's fist struck the front of the skull.
The fist of Mahoraga struck the left side of the skull.
The right side of the skull was pummeled with the knuckles of Beru.
Mr. Sung's dagger stabbed the back of the skull.
"GAH!" Almost everything was sent back by the explosive force from the focused attacks; some shadows, most of my rabbits, the grocery shelves, Ryuen, and Kakeru were anchored by Midoriya's tendril quirk.
"Greater Teleportation!" The skeleton king escaped again, appearing on the left side of us. That attack certainly did a lot of damage; it was shaking its head. Maybe.
"You goddamned insects!" The woman-knight shouted as the shadows around her instantly kneeled. A spell or a technique, maybe? I was also kneeling, and I couldn't stand; my legs felt like they'd been cut off. I couldn't feel a single thing.
Mr. Sung looked at the charging woman-knight, then he sprinted towards her. They became a blur; they fought with such speed that I couldn't even see them. The only person I knew who had this kind of speed was Gojo!
"Grasp Heart!" The skeleton king used that spell again, this time against Mahoraga, but it didn't have any effect.
The skeleton king then glanced at me and pointed his bony index finger. "Ray of Negative Energy!" A powerful beam of energy shot forward, but Reinhard swiftly swapped away the incoming energy blast.
The skeleton king then disappeared; it turned invisible. I doubt it's escaping; it's trying to buy some time. Can Reinhard spot him?
"Yes, very clearly," Reinhard said, as if answering my thoughts. He kicked the air, sending a powerful gust of energy, and he struck the invisible skeleton king, sending him flying again. The skeleton king crashed against a grocery shelf.
"Elemental Skull!" The sorcerer king said, and a skull then appeared in front of it, glowing with several conjoining colors.
The skull was magically changing its colors; it looked oddly hypnotic. The skeleton king then walked in front of the skull, covering the skull behind his figure.
"You're certainly quite the trouble, Reinhard van Astrea, but I doubt your friends can catch up to you." The skeleton king declared. "May I call you, Reinhard?"
Reinhard instantly disappeared, surprising the skeleton king with his speed. I couldn't help but be impressed, too. That was an amazing feat.
A loud crack sounded off behind the skeleton king.
The skeleton king was instantly in the air, apparently kicked upwards by Reinhard. Reinhard knew that the skull was dangerous, and he immediately destroyed it. I realized it too, the moment that Skeleton King placed himself in front of it.
Another portal then appeared, with the same physical description as the last one. Something heavy then fell. The ground shattered, then froze. A cold mist breezed through me.
Another one of the skeleton king's subordinates? The cloud of smoke slowly cleared, but the silhouette behind it was a tall, hulking figure with four arms and what seemed to be a tail.
